Chapter 130 Car Accident (1)
Since she got pregnant, Jack hadn't contacted her.
Pearl took a deep breath and answered the phone.
"Pearl, I went to the Evans villa to find you, but they said you weren't there," Jack said, sounding unusually cheerful. "We're getting married soon, and Grandpa asked me to bring some gifts to your place today."
Pearl was so shocked she almost dropped her phone. She stammered, "Oh, I had something to do and wasn't home. Maybe you can visit next time?"
Jack paused and said humbly, "Pearl, I do have feelings for you. We fell in love freely. But we're both so young, and it's a crucial time for our careers. Having a baby now might complicate things more than we can handle."
Pearl followed his lead and asked, "So, do you want me to have an abortion?"
"It's not that I don't want it," Jack tried to reason. "I just think now isn't the right time. We can get married first and can have children whenever we're ready."
Pearl coldly asked, "If I have an abortion, will you still marry me?"
Jack, focused on getting Pearl to abort, was willing to promise anything. Whether he'd keep those promises was another matter.
He replied firmly, "If you agree to end the pregnancy, I swear I'll marry you. We'll have plenty of chances to have kids later on."
Pearl paused and said, "Let me think about it."
Jack chuckled, "That's the spirit! Pearl, you finally came around."
Jack was thrilled. No matter how he had coaxed Pearl before, she had refused, determined to use the baby to control him. But now, what had changed her mind?
After the call, Pearl gloomily tossed her phone aside, deep in thought.
Joan had overheard most of their conversation. She snorted, "Jack's full of lies. He just wants to get rid of you. Don't let him fool you!"
Pearl gave a sinister smile, "I know exactly what kind of guy he is! The baby's already gone, and there's no hope of marrying into the Kelly family. I might as well use this chance to extort some money from him!"
Joan looked puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Pearl raised an eyebrow, "Just wait and see! You'll find out soon."
Out of nowhere, a nurse's voice came from outside. "Who are you? What are you sneaking around for? Hey, stop right there! What are you doing here?"
The nurse's voice caught Pearl's and Joan's attention.
Pearl urged, "Mom, go see who it is."
Joan quickly opened the door and saw a familiar figure.
"Mary?" She sprinted after her, muttering, "This is really bad, really bad!"
Fortunately, Joan was younger and faster than Mary.
At the hospital entrance, Joan finally caught up with her.
Seeing the red light ahead, Joan sneered, "Where do you think you're going? How dare you follow me and eavesdrop on our conversation?"
Mary stood on the crosswalk, forced to retreat. She warned, "Don't come any closer! You and your daughter ruined someone else's family, deceived everyone, and implicated the Evans family. I'm going to tell Mr. Evans and Miss Jessica Evans right now, and you'll get what's coming to you!"
