Chapter 579 She Wants to Return to Ocean City (3)
Nathan knew it was selfish, but he just wanted to be selfish this one time in his life.
So, when Jessica bombarded him with questions, he pushed down his guilt and anxiety and said calmly, "I think you've forgotten what love looks like. Maybe your husband never really showed you love? Or maybe you two were in love once, but the hurt he caused you has buried that love."
Jessica didn't argue with Nathan's words.
But she felt that any man who could make her have two kids with him must have been worth it at some point.
Seeing her silence, Nathan spoke again, "Jessica, promise me, let me take care of you and the kids. The love you're looking for, I believe I can give it to you."
Jessica thought for a long time before softly saying, "Can you give me some time to think about it? And I need to ask Cordelia and Colt what they think. After all, they're a part of my life."
Hearing this, Nathan's worries finally eased, replaced by immense joy.
After all, Cordelia and Colt always liked to hang around him.
He was confident he could win over Cordelia and Colt.
He suddenly pulled Jessica into his arms, his voice trembling with excitement, "Okay, I'll wait for you. Just don't take too long, alright?"
Jessica was startled by the sudden hug but didn't pull away.
They say feelings and emotions develop over time. Although right now, she only felt a student-teacher bond with Nathan.
But she wanted to try accepting him because she didn't want to let down his kindness towards her.
From that day on, Nathan became even more considerate towards her.
Now, some of their projects were joint efforts, while others were led by their respective teams.
But to give her more time to rest, Nathan also got involved in some of her solo projects, offering many guiding suggestions and even personally helping her collect data.
Even Lily couldn't help but comment to Jessica when Nathan wasn't around, "Mr. Howard's way of pursuing a girl is really something! Other guys give flowers, cars, or houses, but since you don't need any of that, our Mr. Howard gives you projects and grants!"
Her words made the whole lab burst into laughter.
Jessica felt extremely awkward and had to assert her authority as the senior and team leader, sternly saying, "Lily, how far along are you with the task I assigned you last week?" Lily stuck out her tongue and reluctantly said, "The clinical trial you mentioned can't be conducted here. There are too few patients, and the sample size is too small. Even if we get results, they won't be representative."
Jessica didn't blame her because she knew that with the smaller population abroad, finding patients with this particular condition was even harder.
So, such clinical research would definitely lack a sufficient sample size.
She had already considered this.
Therefore, she had a backup plan ready.
Lily sighed and said, "Susan, at this point, I feel like our project can't move forward."
"Don't worry."
Jessica smiled and said, "I've recently contacted a hospital with the highest number of child patients. However, to conduct clinical drug trials with their patients, we'll need the hospital's approval."
