Chapter 237 He Always Treated Her Like a Fool (2)

Jessica's heart felt shattered. She nodded at Rose, bitterness in her voice. "You got what you wanted. What more do you need?"

Rose smirked, "Miss Evans, I thought you cared about dignity. The truth is right here. Why cling to James?"

With that, she walked away, leaving Jessica alone in the cold corridor.

Despite the crowd, Jessica felt utterly alone. The noise faded, her vision blurred, and her mind went blank. Time dragged until a familiar voice snapped her out of it.

"Jessica, what's wrong?" Kylie had just passed by the clinic and saw Jessica standing there, lost. She noticed the tears streaming down Jessica's face and panicked, shaking her gently. "Say something, what's wrong?"

"Nothing," Jessica mumbled, wiping her tears quickly. She forced a smile that didn't reach her eyes. "I need to get back to the clinic with Ms. Wells. Kylie, I have to go."

With that, she stumbled back.

Soon, Kylie saw Rose leaving a nearby exam room. She immediately understood and hurried to catch up.

Kylie grabbed her and asked urgently, "Jessica, you found out, didn't you? Did she give you trouble?"

Jessica was stunned, looking at her in disbelief. "You knew too? Why? Why did you all keep it from me?"

"I'm sorry, Jessica, don't be mad." Kylie, afraid Jessica would misunderstand, quickly explained what had happened.

She sighed, "James told me not to say anything and even threatened me. But I hinted at it during lunch that day. You were too naive to catch on."

Jessica felt a deep coldness in her heart. She trembled slightly and shook her head. "So, he planned this all along. He always treated me like a fool!"

Kylie frowned, worried. "Jessica, what are you going to do now? I was so angry when I saw him with that woman for a prenatal checkup. I wanted to tell you right away. But he said he would talk to you and be honest."

"No, he said nothing." Jessica's tears streamed down as she choked, "If I hadn't found out, he would have kept lying to me!"

Kylie asked with deep concern, "Are you still going back to work? You're in such a bad state. Why not take a break and rest? Talk to him tonight and clear things up."

Jessica wiped her tears and stubbornly said, "Why shouldn't I go to work? He's not worth me giving up my job and studies!" With that, she turned and walked back to the clinic.

However, with so much on her mind, work felt like torture. Despite this, she tried hard to hold back her tears and do her job.

As Cynthia was about to finish her shift, she muttered to herself, "That's weird, that pregnant woman from earlier didn't come back to show me her test results. It's almost the end of the day."

Jessica mocked herself internally. 'Rose's purpose wasn't to get a checkup or see a doctor. She just wanted me to know she's having James's child.'
