Jack just wanted Pearl to abort the baby and end the engagement.

Two days later, Jack gave Pearl the rare pink diamond bracelet she wanted.
When she saw the dazzling diamond, Pearl was stunned, not expecting him to get it so quickly.
Jack quickly said, "You have no idea how hard it was to get this! A foreign buyer had it, and I had to go abroad to beg for it!"
Pearl's eyes sparkled as she carefully took the bracelet and said, "Oh my God, it's so beautiful. Quick, put it on me. I want to try it!"
Jack snatched the bracelet back and asked suspiciously, "Hold on a sec. You're seriously gonna get the abortion, right? Pearl, you see how much I care about you. I get whatever you want. This is one of a kind!"
A calculating look flashed in Pearl's eyes, and she readily agreed, "Don't worry, I keep my word! Tomorrow, you come to pick me up and take me to the hospital. Will that put your mind at ease?"
Jack nodded. "Then it's settled!" He finally let go of a big worry and felt extremely satisfied.
After Jack left, Joan mysteriously entered Pearl's room. She whispered, "Pearl, I just heard that Mary is barely alive but still in a coma. They say she might become a vegetable."
"Really? That's even better." Pearl grinned wickedly, "Saves us the hassle of dealing with her. Now that she's in a vegetative state, it's like God is on our side."
Joan said, worried, "It's not that simple. I heard your dad took Mary to Auroravale for treatment, saying the experts there are better than those in Ocean City."
Pearl didn't believe it and questioned, "A vegetative state! If Auroravale had such great experts, would there still be so many vegetative states in the world?"
Suddenly, she thought of something and quickly asked, "Did Jessica go to Auroravale with them?"
Joan was taken aback and said disdainfully, "Her? I'd rather she just leave and not be a bother. But I don't think she went, though she's packing her bags. With your dad away, she probably doesn't want to stick around either."
Pearl laughed out loud and said, "That's good! If she's not here, I can't carry out my plan!"
Joan looked at Pearl in confusion, "What are you planning, Pearl? We can't act recklessly anymore! We've already angered your dad, and now you've lost the baby. We don't even know if you can still marry into the Kelly family. We have to be extremely careful with every step we take now!"
