Chapter 126 Miscarriage (1)

John lost it and yelled, "You jerk, Jessica's your sister! I knew you had bad intentions. But if you harm her, don't blame me for cutting you off!"

Pearl shrugged and nonchalantly replied, "Do you really think I care if you disown me? I'm carrying the first grandson of the Kelly family. My future status will be untouchable, far beyond anything you could ever hope to influence!"

Ignoring John's reaction, Pearl hummed a tune and headed upstairs.

On the second floor, she bumped into Mary Wilson, the former nanny who took care of Jessica. Since Jessica's marriage, Mary had been the Evans family's housekeeper, thanks to John.

Usually, they got along well with each other because of John's authority. But Mary had a soft spot for Jessica and still cleaned her room weekly.

"Stop!" Pearl shouted and blocked her path.

Mary, who had always harbored a deep disdain for Joan and Pearl. They had been the catalysts for the turmoil in the Evans household, shattering the peace and warmth that once existed.

However, recognizing Pearl was the heiress of the Evans family and the need for decorum, Mary stopped and asked with a subdued tone, "Miss Evans, what do you need?"

Pearl sneered with a hint of mockery in her voice, "Loyal, aren't you? Jessica's been married for ages. Who are you cleaning for? Are you hoping Jessica will take you to the Kelly family for a cushy retirement?"

Mary, in her fifties, turned pale but held back, "If there's nothing else, I'll go downstairs."

Pearl abruptly extended her foot, "Who said there's nothing else? My shoes are dirty. Since you love serving others so much, clean my shoes too."

Mary stared at her in disbelief and replied, "Miss Evans, don't push it too far. I've been an employee of the Evans family for many years."

Pearl scoffed disdainfully, her eyes blazing with contempt, "So what? No matter how long you've been here, you're still a lowly servant. I'm carrying the future heir of the Kelly family. If you dare to offend me, I'll ensure you're blacklisted from every household in Ocean City!"

She shoved Mary, who managed to stay upright, though some soapy water spilled.

Pearl demanded, "Clean my shoes! Kneel and do it well!"

Mary, wanting to keep her job, knelt and polished Pearl's shoes until they shone.

Satisfied, Pearl smirked, "Remember who the real Miss of the Evans family is! Get lost!"

Mary quickly left with the basin.

Feeling triumphant after her confrontation with Mary, Pearl decided to post about her upcoming engagement to the Kelly family. However, she didn't notice the cleaning solution that had spilled from Mary's basin and was still on the floor.

With a sudden slip, Pearl let out a piercing scream and crashed to the ground.
