Chapter 577 She Wants to Return to Ocean City (1)
The next day.
Nathan took Jessica to Mark's office.
Mark had a nurse take Jessica for a brain CT scan and some neurological tests.
Meanwhile, Nathan stayed in Mark's office.
Mark said, "Nathan, Susan's been having a lot of headaches lately. From what I've seen, she might be starting to remember. The amnesia she got from the stress of childbirth could be reversible. I've seen it happen before."
The more Mark talked, the more nervous Nathan got.
He really didn't want Jessica to remember anything.
Back then, Jessica had a traumatic childbirth and severe bleeding, but she managed to give birth to the twins, Cordelia and Colt Evans.
When she woke up, she couldnt remember anything.
Nathan even felt a bit relieved.
Why remember such painful memories?
He simply told Jessica that she was an orphan with no family.
Her husband had died in an accident.
Since then, he had taken Jessica to his lab abroad to focus on research.
Unexpectedly, Jessica showed a great talent and interest in medicine and pharmacology.
Soon, Jessica began to shine in many medical journals. In just a few years, she had become a leading figure in the field of cardiothoracic surgery, almost surpassing Nathan in fame.
She became more confident, with money, looks, a career, and two adorable kids.
Nathan thought that the current Jessica was perfect and happy.
Why would she need to remember the past?
Not long after, Jessica returned from her tests.
Nathan quickly went up to her and asked, "Did you get the results? How'd it go?"
Jessica smiled with relief and said, "No issues at all. I think it's just neuralgia."
Nathan breathed a sigh of relief and nodded, "That's good."
Jessica then walked over to Mark and asked, "Mark, are there any new drugs or methods in neurology that could help me regain my memory? For years, I've felt like there's a blank spot in my memory, and I keep having these strange dreams. I'm afraid these dreams are connected to the memories I've lost."
Nathan immediately stepped forward and asked, "What kind of dreams? Who or what do you see in them?"
Jessica looked at him suspiciously.
After all, Nathan was usually so composed and calm.
But just now, he seemed anxious and desperate.
Jessica had no choice but to answer honestly, "The dreams are chaotic, like fragments. Sometimes I wake up and still remember the content, feeling like it really happened. Other times, I wake up and can't remember anything."
Mark sighed and said, "That's normal for someone with amnesia. Right now, there's no better or newer method to help you regain your memory. Susan, even without those memories, you're doing well, aren't you? Why dwell on the past?"
Jessica felt a bit frustrated. Mark's words seemed so detached.
He had never experienced amnesia. How could he understand Jessica's distress?
