Chapter 524 Returning Your Child to You (2)
"I said I won't drink it!"
Jessica suddenly reached out and knocked over the bowl of porridge.
As the porcelain bowl shattered, porridge splattered all over James' hands and clothes.
A flash of anger crossed James' eyes, but he quickly took a deep breath to calm himself.
Jessica knew she had gone too far.
In the past, James would have definitely lost his temper.
But she couldn't bring herself to please him like she used to, nor did she want to apologize.
At that moment, she noticed James sigh and stand up again.
He silently walked to the dining table and served her another bowl of porridge.
Just like before, he stubbornly held the spoon to her lips.
Jessica hesitated for a moment, then took the bowl and quickly finished the porridge herself. "Alright, I'm done. Can you leave now?"
"Do you hate me that much?"
James slammed the bowl down and demanded, "What if it were Nathan sitting here instead?"
Jessica turned her head away, unwilling to explain any further.
No amount of explanation could dispel James' suspicion and possessiveness.
James sighed, reached out, and stroked her hair. "What am I supposed to do with you? Tell me, what should I do?"
Jessica's eyes were devoid of any color, and in a hoarse voice, she said, "Let me go."
"That's impossible."
James' tone was resolute. "Anything but that. Even if you want the stars in the sky, I'll get them for you. But I will never let you take my child and wander off!"
Jessica cried out, "Then I'll give your child back to you. I don't want it. I'll leave on my own!"
James' heart tightened, fearing she might actually abandon the child in a fit of anger.
He scolded, "Stop it! I forbid you to say such things. This child is ours, and you don't have the right to decide alone."
Jessica's lips curled into a bitter smile. "Maybe this child was a mistake from the start. I'm not a responsible mother, and you're not a responsible father! He won't be happy in the future."
As soon as she finished speaking, James silenced her with a kiss.
He didn't want to hear any more discouraging words.
She was carrying his child, the symbol of their love, which should have been a source of happiness.
Jessica struggled desperately in his arms, pounding on his shoulders, but he held her tightly.
Jessica felt her lips go numb from his kiss, and her heart grew numb as well, unable to stir any emotion.
After James let her go, she instinctively slapped him.
With tears in her eyes, Jessica angrily said, "Bastard! My dad just passed away, and you want to do this to me!"
"I'm just reminding you not to have any thoughts of harming this child."
James warned her word by word, "I won't allow anything to happen to this child! If you don't agree, you can forget about attending your dad's funeral the day after tomorrow. Try me if you don't believe it!"
Jessica cried out in anger, "How can you be so cold-blooded? James, are you heartless? That was my dad!"
"Heartless?" James questioned, "A mother who says her child is a mistake and doesn't want her child—isn't that heartless?"
