Chapter 14 Something Important Broke

"It's just a piano. Why are you being so aggressive?"
The moment he spoke, he criticized her.
Jessica looked at James in disbelief and gave a self-mocking smile.
She had just asked a few questions, and in his eyes, she was aggressive!
"You know how important this piano is to me. Why?"
Facing her question, James just glanced at her indifferently.
"I'll have a piano delivered tomorrow. Let's move on. Rose didn't do it on purpose. If it weren't for your piano, Rose wouldn't hurt her hands."
Jessica followed his gaze. It was just a small cut. If he hadn't mentioned it, no one would have noticed.
At that moment, she fully got that James understood how to love; he just didn't love her.
She looked at the damaged piano and silently wept.
To someone who didn’t love her, even if she died, it's just like she was asleep.
Jessica finally understood how ironic that saying was.
"No need. Even if you buy the most expensive piano, it won't be the one I want."
Jessica didn't want to deal with Rose, but she was stopped by her again.
"It's just a piano." Rose looked at her smugly.
Jessica, who had intended to endure, stopped and looked at her again.
"Jessica, am I not welcome? I said I would move out, but James wouldn't listen to me."
"Jessica, why don't you just scold me? Sulking is bad for your health."
Rose seemed to apologize, but she always acted like a victor.
She did it on purpose. The servants said this piano was Jessica's treasure, and she took care of it meticulously every day.
As long as she could drive Jessica out, she would be the hostess of this house.
Jessica had anticipated James's attitude.
She just didn't expect that after two years of marriage, her most important possession was less significant than a small cut on Rose’s hand, and he had only met Rose once.
Maybe she was too stressed, or she was just in a bad mood; Jessica finally couldn't hold on and fainted.
Her vision blurred, and her head felt as heavy as lead. Vaguely, she seemed to see James. James had a cold expression, and he seemed angry.
"James." Jessica's voice was weak as if she used all her strength to say it. Before she could finish, her vision went black, and she fainted.
Jessica's body tilted backward, then fell straight down, but at the critical moment, James rushed up and caught her in his arms. Before losing consciousness, she faintly smelled James's unique scent.
James looked down at her pale cheeks and purplish lips. He tightened his grip on her and carried her upstairs.
Rose was a bit stunned, her face drained of color. She hadn't expected Jessica to faint suddenly. She reached out in a panic, trying to grab him. "James."
James carried the unconscious Jessica upstairs and had the servant call the family doctor.
Upstairs, after the doctor left, only James and Jessica were left in the bedroom.
After a long time, Jessica's eyelashes fluttered slightly. "Water."
Someone gently helped her up and gave her water.
She opened her eyes, and could slowly see clearly. She was stunned when she saw James.
Before she fainted, she thought it was all a hallucination.
