Chapter 189 James Felt Heartbroken (2)

The next day, Jessica woke up and didn't see James. Instead, Olivia was there, looking troubled and hesitant to speak. Jessica, feeling too sick to dig into it, only realized something was off when Olivia nervously took her phone away.

"Olivia, give me my phone," Jessica demanded seriously.

Olivia, flustered, tried to dissuade her. "Mrs. Kelly, you're still sick. The doctor and Mr. Kelly said you need to rest."

Jessica got out of bed, almost pulling out her IV. "Mrs. Kelly, be careful," Olivia said, rushing to support her. "Please, Mr. Kelly is doing this for your own good as well!"

Jessica, frustrated, shouted, "Give me the phone! Now!"

Faced with Jessica's firm stance, Olivia reluctantly handed over the phone. Jessica checked the Ocean City University forum and saw it had been cleaned up, but the damage was done. Then, on Instagram, she found a statement from the Evans Group, written by John, severing their father-daughter relationship and cutting her off from the family inheritance.

In disbelief, Jessica thought John was just angry about Louisa and that it would pass. But this public estrangement showed his deep hatred. Olivia, seeing Jessica's distress, said, "Mrs. Kelly, Mr. Kelly is handling this. Please, don't get agitated."

Jessica laughed bitterly. "James? He's too busy with Rose to care about my issues."

Before Olivia could react, Jessica shoved her aside, yanked out the IV, and bolted out of the room, driven by hopelessness and heartbreak.

At Kelly Corporation, Jack stood silently in front of James's desk. Suddenly, a box was thrown at him—it was the birthday gift he had given Jessica.

"What does this mean?" Jack said angrily. "This is a gift for Jessica. She should return it herself if she wants to."

James sneered, "Jessica? You think you can call her like this?"

Jack knew the ball incident had tarnished the Kelly family's reputation, and neither James nor Gerald would let it slide. Frustrated, he snapped, "Do you even know when her birthday is? You've never cared about her. At least I made the effort. I learned her preferences. And you? What have you done? Why do you keep her trapped?"

Despite the tension, James realized Jack's knowledge of Jessica came from investigation, not any special relationship.
