Chapter 290 It Hurts

Jessica locked eyes with him, cool as a cucumber. "I went to a party," she said, like it was no big deal.

James's face turned beet red. He grabbed her wrist tighter, his voice booming. "You are already married! What the hell were you doing there? Why are you hanging out with Leo again?"

Jessica yanked her wrist free. Fear gnawed at her, but she shoved it down, her voice defiant. "Just 'cause I'm married to you, I can't have friends? Leo's a good buddy; what's wrong with that?"

James sneered, "A buddy? More like your next boyfriend!"

Jessica lifted her chin, firing back, "So what? Once your love child is born, I'm outta here. I need someone new. Or do you expect me to be alone forever?"

James looked like he'd been slapped. He stared at her, disbelief all over his face. "What did you just say? You've been planning to ditch me all along?" he asked.

Jessica felt a pang of sorrow but masked it with determination. "Yeah, let's get real. I only came back 'cause you could save my dad. I wasn't trying to make you happy. I'd rather be with Leo, who's young and devoted, than stay with you, an old man with a love child!"

James's face darkened. Old man? Leo, young and vibrant? He recoiled, his grip loosening, and sank back, looking drained. "So you really were using me? You got no real feelings for me?"

Jessica turned away, tears threatening to spill. "Why should I be real with you? You've given me no hope. Every day with you makes me sick. That party was me looking for future happiness."

James fell silent, his face beyond gloomy. The disappointment in his eyes slowly turned into anger, and he laughed bitterly. "Alright, Jessica, you've been faking it for so long, and now you can't keep it up, huh? Looks like I need to remind you of your place! So you don't get any more crazy ideas!"

He grabbed her, dragging her back to the bedroom. Jessica's nerves frayed, panic overtaking her defiance.

Pressing her down onto the bed, James's voice was a cold growl. "Beg me. Say you were wrong and ask me to let you go."

Jessica stubbornly glared at him and said, "What's the point of this? You can't control what I think. James, treating me like this will only make me hate you more!"

James chuckled darkly, his tone dripping with menace. "What if I make you pregnant with my kid? Would that stop you from attracting other guys and going to those stupid parties?"

Jessica's eyes widened in horror. James kissed her roughly, stifling her protest. His actions were punishing, driven by a brutal need to assert control.

Crying out in pain, she gasped, "It hurts!"
