Chapter 183 He Didn't Treat Her as His Wife at All
He grabbed her waist with one hand and pinched her chin with the other, making her look up at him.
"Jessica, do you hate this, or just hate doing this with me? Did you enjoy it when the guy you cheated with touched you?" he snapped.
Jessica yelled back, "You shameless bastard! If you think I'm dirty, then just divorce me! Why do you keep humiliating and torturing me like this?"
James felt his chest tighten, thinking about Jessica wanting a divorce and the guy she was seeing. He was on the edge of losing it. Suddenly, he cupped her cheeks and kissed her hard, his lips crashing against hers like a storm.
Jessica felt a sharp pain and a strange itch where his lips met hers. In gentler moments, she could feel a hint of tenderness. But now, he was just using her to vent his anger.
It wasn't until James tasted her salty tears that he slowly let her go. He pulled back, locking eyes with Jessica's stubborn, resentful gaze. The anger in his chest wouldn't die down.
He thought, 'If she would just soften a bit, show even a hint of timidity, I'd shower her with all my love. But she doesn't. She resists me, stubbornly wanting to leave, and it drives me crazy.'
Just then, James's phone rang. It was Rose. Jessica saw the caller ID, her eyes flickering slightly.
James put the call on speaker and answered. Rose's soft, weak voice filled the room, oozing vulnerability. "James, I've been feeling unwell and went to the doctor. I have something to tell you."
Jessica curled her lips in mockery but kept her eyes indifferent. This visible detachment only made James gloomier. It was like she didn’t care at all.
Dissatisfied with Jessica's lack of response, James spoke into the phone, his voice reassuring. "Rose, don't worry, I'll come to you right now."
As he was about to leave, Jessica stopped him and insisted, "You haven't said whether you'll let go of the Stewart family!"
James frowned deeply and said coldly, "You keep talking about the Stewart family. What about me? Jessica, when you figure out your role as Mrs. Kelly, then come talk to me about other things!"
With that, he slammed the door and left.
Jessica stood numbly in the bedroom, laughing at herself with silent tears. He wanted her to learn to be "Mrs. Kelly," but he didn't treat her as his wife at all!
James went to Rose's place. Rose took out her medical records and asked, "James, what should I do? The doctor said my condition has worsened."
Madison chimed in, "Mr. Kelly, I haven't dared to leave Miss Morris's side lately! Just yesterday, I found sleeping pills hidden under her pillow and quickly took them away."
With a meaningful glance at Madison, Rose said in an almost pitiful tone, "James, I probably don't deserve you anymore. Someone like me, sick and all, what right do I have to stay by your side?"
Without waiting for a response, she suddenly ran into the bedroom and shut the door tightly.
Madison glanced cautiously at James's expression and said softly, "Mr. Kelly, there are some things Miss Morris doesn't want me to say, and I don't know if I should."
