Chapter 412 Pledging Herself to James (2)

She spoke sullenly, "At times like this, you're the only one I can think of, and only you can help me."

James furrowed his brows even deeper. So, it was only at times like these that she thought of him.

At other times, she was probably having too much fun with Nathan to even think of him, right?

Thinking of this, James finally made up his mind.

Maybe Charles was right.

At such a critical moment, who would call the shots at The Kelly Corporation in the future? It all depended on this final gamble.

Why bother caring about a woman?

James's deep gaze fell on her face. He lifted her chin with his hand and said, "Since you want me to help you, why don't you help me too?"

Jessica looked at him in confusion and asked, "What do you mean?"

James said flatly, "Grandpa has always been worried about us. Before he passes away, I want him to see us reconciled so he can leave this world in peace."

Jessica thought it was going to be an unreasonable request.

But after James finished speaking, she didn't find it unreasonable at all.

Because she didn't want Gerald to leave with regrets either.

She agreed immediately.

James didn't say anything more, but his eyes were extremely complicated.

Jessica, I didn't want to use you, but you willingly walked into this trap.

"When can you lend me the money?"

Jessica asked cautiously, "My dad said if we can't fill this funding gap, the court will seize The Evans family."

Seeing her so anxious, James couldn't help but feel a surge of anger.

It was for John again!

Back then, Jessica insisted on divorcing him for John.

Now, she was asking him for help because of John.

So, his existence was just a bargaining chip for her to fulfill her filial duty?

James suddenly didn't want to agree with her so easily.

So he asked, "How much do you need?"

Jessica whispered, "Three million dollars."

James's thin lips curved into a mocking smile, deliberately making things difficult, "It looks like The Evans family has already mortgaged everything to the bank. If I lend this money to your dad, what else can The Evans family use as collateral?"

Jessica didn't understand what he meant and was struggling to think of something to use as collateral for the loan.

James had already lost his patience and said bluntly, "Why don't you mortgage yourself to me, hmm? When you pay back the money, I'll give you your freedom."

Jessica's heart tightened suddenly, and panic and surprise were evident in her eyes.

She instinctively shook her head and said, "No, I can't do that."

Although James didn't say it explicitly, she wasn't stupid. She couldn't become his secret lover.

James's gaze grew colder, and he said in a deep voice, "Think it over carefully! Think about how long The Evans Corporation can hold out."

After saying that, he walked straight ahead.

Jessica suddenly came to her senses and shouted at his back, "I agree!"

James stopped in his tracks. This answer was actually expected.

But he didn't know that when Jessica said those words, she had already shed all her dignity and pride.

Looking at Jessica's pitiful and innocent face.

He walked closer step by step, reached out to stroke her cheek, and said in a seductive voice, "Then remember, from now on, be obedient when you're with me."

Jessica bit her lip and nodded humbly.

Thinking of Nathan, James said unhappily, "Since you've decided to stay with me, move back to the villa tonight. It'll be more convenient for me when I want you, hmm?"
