Chapter 289 Where Did You Go Tonight?
It was way past eleven when the shindig finally fizzled out. Leo had been glued to Jessica's side all night, showering her with attention even though he knew she was hitched to James. He was relentless, thinking her solo appearance meant her marriage was on the rocks.
"Jessica, I've always thought your thing with Mr. Kelly was doomed," Leo said with a cocky grin. "A guy like him? Who knows how many side chicks he's got? And you, just a regular college girl. How could you even keep up? But hey, it's good you're wising up. Hit up more parties, and you'll find someone better in no time."
Jessica stood at the hotel entrance, scanning the area. She figured James would swing by to pick her up, thinking he'd be pissed seeing her with Leo. But as their classmates trickled away, there was still no sign of James.
Leo, though, wasn't giving up, suggesting, "Jessica, how about tonight, we...?"
Jessica's eyes narrowed, cutting him off coldly, "We what?"
"I mean, I'll take you home," Leo backpedaled, realizing he had to play it cool. He couldn't rush if he wanted a shot with her. He rolled up with his electric scooter and said, "Hop on, Jessica! I know it's not as fancy as Mr. Kelly's ride, but one day, I'll have a car too!"
Just then, Jessica spotted a car creeping to a stop across the street. She quickly agreed to Leo and hopped on his scooter. Leo was over the moon. Who cared if James was a CEO? Stealing Jessica from him would be a major ego boost.
Meanwhile, James's face in the car was like a thundercloud. He trailed behind Leo, driving slowly. Jessica knew exactly what was going on.
Leo finally dropped Jessica off at the entrance of a swanky villa, his eyes wide with shock. His world was pretty basic, and he had zero connections with the rich crowd. Seeing a house like this up close was mind-blowing.
He asked cautiously, "Jessica, is this place yours or Mr. Kelly's?"
Jessica replied coolly, "I'm just a regular college student. How could I own a place like this?"
"No worries, we'll get one someday. We'll hustle together!" Leo smiled awkwardly and whipped out his phone. "Jessica, let's add each other on Facebook. We can catch a movie or hang out when we're free."
Worried she might turn him down, he quickly added, "Don't worry, I don't care that you've been married. I like you!"
"Thanks." Jessica forced a smile, but her eyes drifted to the car not far away. She knew James was watching her every move.
Finally, Leo left, feeling pretty pleased with himself.
Jessica turned and walked toward the yard. Just then, a sharp voice called out, "Jessica! Stop right there!"
Jessica turned around, pretending to be surprised, and asked, "What are you doing here?"
James grabbed her wrist, yanked her close, and demanded coldly, "Don't play dumb! Where were you tonight?"
