Chapter 73 Using Her as a Bet
Kylie begged, "Come on, let's go together. Tons of people are going today. Let's check it out. Plus, I want to treat you to dinner tonight to thank you. It's still early; we can watch the game and then grab a bite."
Jessica smiled, "You don't have to be so formal. Really, it's not a big deal."
Kylie sighed, "But your little help was a big deal for me. If it weren't for you, I might not have finished my experiment or written my paper. If you don't let me repay you, I'll feel guilty forever."
After all, she had put up so many obstacles for Jessica before, yet Jessica still helped her without holding a grudge.
Jessica couldn't refuse her, so she agreed.
She texted James, telling him she was having dinner with a classmate tonight and that he didn't need to pick her up.
So, the two of them headed to the school field.
A lot of students had already gathered there, mostly girls.
Many girls had even changed into miniskirts and backless tops, turning into impromptu cheerleaders to support the boys playing basketball.
Kylie was both regretful and excited, saying, "I should have come to be a cheerleader too! Jessica, look over there, that's Leo Peterson. He's so handsome. He's the captain of the school basketball team!"
Jessica's gaze followed hers, and sure enough, there was a sunny, youthful guy. Although he looked quite delicate, his shooting was impressive, almost always hitting the mark.
"He is pretty handsome," Jessica agreed with a smile.
During halftime, Leo was surrounded by many girls, offering water and towels.
Kylie eagerly said, "I'll buy a bottle of water and go over, at least to get noticed. What if Leo takes a liking to me?"
Jessica rolled her eyes, "Do you see how many people are giving him water? Whether you can even hand it to him is another story; even if you do, with so many people giving him water, he might end up with water intoxication!"
"Why do you have to be so harsh?"
Although Kylie complained, she listened to Jessica and didn't rush forward.
As they were laughing and talking, a pair of sneakers came into view.
Jessica looked up, incredulous, at Leo standing in front of them.
She quickly whispered to Kylie, "Your wish came true!"
Kylie was visibly excited, secretly thinking, 'Maybe not approaching him has actually caught Leo's attention.'
She was about to speak, but Leo suddenly took a step closer to Jessica.
"You're Jessica, right?" Leo smiled.
Jessica was slightly taken aback and nodded, "I am. Do you know me?"
Leo scratched his head and said, "A hero who stands up for others, who wouldn't know you? Although I'm not in your medical department, I attended your department's award ceremony yesterday. I really regret not studying medicine."
Jessica had no idea why Leo was saying all this to her out of the blue.
Besides, she didn't know how to respond to his words.
At most, she could say, "Thank you for the compliment."
At this moment, one of Leo's roommates ran over and bluntly said, "Let me speak for Leo! We just made a bet with Leo. If our architecture department wins against the chemical engineering department today, will you be Leo's girlfriend?"
Jessica was completely stunned.
She just wanted to ask, "Are you kidding me? Can you really bet on something like this?"
