Chapter 217 Henry Got Blacklisted
Everyone immediately looked down, not daring to make a sound. They all thought James was acting really weird now.
In the study room at Ocean City University, Jessica finally shook off her gloom and dove into her studies. Next to her, Kylie chuckled. "Your spirit's back! Studying was getting boring without you as my rival."
Jessica smiled, eyes sparkling with relief. "All that messy stuff is sorted out now. Otherwise, I couldn't focus."
Kylie leaned in, curious. "Did Mr. Kelly help you?"
Jessica nodded, a sweet smile spreading across her face. "Yeah."
Kylie raised an eyebrow playfully. "No wonder you're so happy today."
Feeling shy, Jessica nudged Kylie. "Stop it. Let's get back to studying!"
Kylie sighed, her excitement fading. "I've been torn about which major to choose. Are you going for internal medicine or surgery? Have you picked a professor yet?"
Jessica replied honestly, "I want to go into cardiac surgery."
She'd decided this long ago. Her mom was a cardiac surgeon, and she wanted to finish her mom's work.
Kylie's eyes lit up. "Cardiac surgery? You should apply to be Professor Howard's grad student! He spends a lot of time abroad, so he might even take you overseas."
Jessica quickly shook her head, feeling insecure. "So many people want to be his students. He only takes students from top schools like Auroravale. How could it be my turn?"
Kylie scoffed, waving her hand. "You're so silly!"
With a confident smirk, Kylie said, "Remember when you saved someone? Professor Howard clarified things for you. That means you're on his radar! We'll be interning at the hospital next month. Find out what kind of students he likes and work hard to meet those standards!"
Hearing this, Jessica felt excited. After studying theory for so long, she could finally practice in a hospital. She was one step closer to her dream of becoming a great doctor.
As they talked, some people in the study room started whispering, causing a small commotion.
Curious, Kylie joined the group. Not long after, she came back, sighing.
Jessica asked, "What happened? What were they talking about?"
Kylie opened Instagram. "Henry, the famous director, got blacklisted for using illegal drugs. I loved his movies and was looking forward to his new series. Now, it definitely won't air."
Jessica was shocked. Henry had been doing well in the film industry and had launched many stars. Though he was indiscreet in private, his public relations were always handled well. She thought, 'How could he fall so suddenly? Could it be James's doing?'
After all, she had just told James the truth, and knowing his personality, he wouldn't let it go easily. So, he still cared that she had been touched by someone else?
A sense of inferiority slowly grew in her heart.
Jessica uneasily stayed in the study room until evening.
James suddenly sent a message.
James: [Let's eat out tonight. What do you want to eat? I'll book a table.]
Jessica finally smiled.
Jessica: [Grilled fish, is that okay? We can order it mild.]
