Chapter 87 Kneel Down and Apologize
James walked in wearing a dark suit, emitting an intimidating vibe that made it clear to strangers to keep their distance.
Jessica never thought James would show up at the Evans family, especially now when she felt so alone and helpless.
Kevin, still clueless, yelled at Jessica, "Either come with me today or kneel and apologize to me. I've decided to marry you! Don't be ungrateful!"
"How arrogant!" James's icy stare could kill as he walked toward Kevin.
Being a full head taller than Kevin, he seemed even more imposing in comparison.
Louisa was too scared to speak, so she kept winking at Joan.
Joan, sensing the tension, quickly tried to smooth things over, "Mr. Kelly, let me explain. Jessica told us her marriage with you was rocky and asked us to find someone better so she could divorce. Her grandma loves her and asked me to set her up with someone."
Jessica couldn't hold back, she retorted, "You're lying! Do you think I'm blind? Would I ask you to find me a guy who looks like a toad?"
She walked up to James, looking up at him with admiration, "My husband is rich, handsome, and has plenty of luxury cars and houses. Your cousin can't even compare to him. Why would I give up such a great husband? Plus, my husband is stable, doesn't hit women, and never uses foul language!"
James's stern face softened a bit, and he looked down at her, "Am I really that good?"
Jessica was stunned. She thought, 'Oh my God, James is flirting with me in front of everyone.'
What she said was partly true and partly to butter him up so he'd help her. But now James was looking at her with gentle eyes, raising his hand to touch her reddened cheek.
"Who hit you?" he asked angrily, his eyes filled with a chilling intent.
Louisa realized they were in big trouble. They always thought Jessica wasn't valued in the Kelly family, but James's attitude was full of affection.
She glared at Jessica, trying to stop her from speaking. But Jessica ignored her glare.
Jessica looked around and finally pointed at Kevin. "He hit me."
Amidst their terrified and nervous stares, Jessica explained softly, "This is Joan's cousin. Joan and Grandma want me to divorce you and marry him. I refused, so he hit me. If you hadn't come, who knows what might have happened."
Kevin, not knowing who James was, couldn't hold back. He glared at James, "Are you Jessica's husband? I want her. Name your price! I'll buy her from you! I have connections all over Ocean City. If you know what's good for you, get lost and leave Jessica with me!"
With every word, James's gaze grew sharper. By the time Kevin finished, James slapped him twice across the face.
Kevin, enraged, swung his fist at James, "You dare hit me? I'll kill you!"
But James grabbed his fist, twisted it down, and Kevin's screams echoed through the villa. Then, James threw him hard against a nearby wall.
