Chapter 447 I'll Scold Whoever the Third Party Is (1)
Nathan turned a blind eye and, after placing a flower in front of Gerald's portrait, walked over to Jessica.
"Mr. Howard, you're here."
Jessica stood up, bowed to him, and thanked him for coming to mourn Gerald.
Looking at the haggard and noticeably thinner Jessica, Nathan felt a faint ache in his heart.
He gazed deeply at her and said, "My condolences. I'll wait for you to come back."
"Mm, thank you, Mr. Howard."
Jessica's tone was weak, clearly showing how heartbroken she was at the moment.
Nathan was really surprised. After all, Gerald wasn't even Jessica's biological grandfather, yet she showed such filial piety.
His affection for Jessica seemed to grow even more.
At this moment, James walked over and said in a cold tone, "Professor Howard, as you can see, there's a lot to handle with the family matters. I won't keep you any longer. Sean, see the guest out!"
And just like that, Nathan was half-pushed, half-escorted out by James.
His cold, stern gaze fell on Jessica, and he lowered his voice, "Jessica, don't forget what you promised Grandpa. In front of his funeral parlor, watch your every move."
Jessica felt extremely wronged. She and Nathan hadn't said much, just politely thanked him for attending Gerald's funeral.
Why was James accusing her again?
But now, in Gerald's funeral parlor, she couldn't argue with him, let alone fight.
So, she gritted her teeth and nodded, but turned her gaze away, refusing to look at him any longer.
Three days later, Gerald's funeral finally came to an end.
Linda and George immediately demanded that Gerald's will be made public.
Sure enough, Gerald left most of his assets to James, giving only a small portion to George and Jack.
As for the heir to Kelly Corporation, Gerald did not specify that it would be James, only stating: "The capable shall inherit."
This statement gave George a lot of room for imagination.
Previously, under his instigation, the shareholders collectively demanded James's removal.
So now, James still hadn't gone to the company and stayed at home.
Three days of hard work and busyness made James lock himself in the study as soon as the funeral ended today.
Jessica wasn't doing much better.
Her eyes were dark from lack of sleep, but she wasn't the least bit tired.
Every time she closed her eyes, memories of the past two years with Gerald overwhelmed her, and she would wake up crying.
Gerald was gone, and no one in the Kelly Family would ever care for her and worry about her like he did.
Thinking of this, Jessica couldn't help but let her tears fall again.
Through her tear-blurred vision, the light from the diamond ring seemed to sting her eyes.
She remembered that day, by Gerald's bedside, when James proposed to her.
It all felt like a dream.
She thought they could have a future together and had decided to tell him about her pregnancy.
But she didn't expect that his heart held two women, one was her, and the other was Rose.
Jessica lifted her head, forced back her tears, and bitterly curled her lips.
Love and marriage are a one-way street, aren't they? There's no room for sharing.
She silently tried to take off the diamond ring, but it wouldn't come off.
Due to her recent pregnancy, she had developed edema, and her fingers had swollen. The ring seemed to be firmly embedded in her hand.
