Chapter 154 He Will Do It Himself

James frowned a bit at her words. He gently lifted her chin. "I don't like it when you're so polite with me," he said, sounding frustrated.

Before she could reply, he kissed her lightly. "I really have to go," he murmured. "Stay home and be good."

Jessica watched him leave, longing in her eyes. She didn't want him to go but knew his work was important.

At Kelly Corporation, James had a morning meeting and left his phone in the office. When he got back, he saw a bunch of missed calls from Madison Smith, the nanny he hired for Rose. With Rose's unpredictable depression, he relied on Madison a lot.

Seeing the missed calls, anxiety hit James. He called back immediately. "Madison, what happened? Is Rose okay?"

"Mr. Kelly, it's serious! Miss Morris almost took a whole bottle of sleeping pills. I stopped her just in time," Madison's voice trembled. "Since you got back from abroad, she's been so depressed. Now she's furious, demanding the pills back or she'll fire me. What should I do?"

James's heart raced. "Madison, stay with her. Don’t let her out of your sight. I’m on my way."

Twenty minutes later, James arrived at Rose's house. She was still arguing with Madison about the pills.

"Rose!" James rushed in, hugged her, and shouted to Madison, "Throw the pills away! No more of that stuff in the house."

Rose cried out, desperate, "Don't throw them away! I can't sleep at night. Give me back the pills."

James grabbed her shoulders, losing patience. "Have you had enough?" he shouted, his voice echoing.

His outburst stunned Rose. The look in his eyes had changed—no longer tender, but filled with impatience and disgust.

He glared at her. "How long are you going to keep this up? You didn't want treatment abroad. Now you're back, making everyone's life miserable! What am I supposed to do with you?"

Tears welled up in Rose's eyes. "James, if you don't want me anymore, just say it. Since we came back, you've ignored me, leaving a nanny to take care of me. I feel that life has lost its meaning for me!"

James, remembering their first time together, softened. "Alright, Rose, don't cry." He wiped her tears. "I shouldn't have yelled. I've been busy and neglected you."

Rose leaned into his arms, whispering, "James, I can't live without you. You're like the ocean, and I'm a fish. Without you, I'd die..."

James stiffened but gently interrupted, "Stop it. Don't say that. I won't let you die, understand?"

Rose looked up at him, pleading, "James, can you stay with me tonight? I can't sleep when you're not here. I have insomnia every night."

James hesitated but finally agreed. "Okay."

After dinner, Rose prepared a bath for him. "James, you can wash up now. Need a help?" she asked, holding a bath sponge.

James frowned slightly. "Haven't you been having trouble sleeping? Go rest. I'll do it myself."
