Chapter 443 Only You Would Believe His Words (1)

Jessica stared at him blankly and said, "Aren't I already by your side now?"

"You know that's not what I mean." James's eyes burned as he gazed at her face, unwilling to miss any of her expressions. "I mean, always by my side."

Jessica's heart skipped a beat.

Such a question was too sudden for her.

The word 'forever' required a lot of courage to decide.

But thinking of how James, for her and for the Evans family, was willing to go against everyone, willing to put himself in the eye of the storm, even handing over the Kelly Corporation to others.

Jessica felt that she had an obligation to protect him for a lifetime, just as she had once promised Gerald.

After a long silence, Jessica nodded and said, "I will. As long as you need me, I will always protect you."

After she finished speaking, a wave of joy surged in James's deep eyes.

He took out a gift box from beside him and suddenly knelt on one knee in front of her, opening the box.

"Jessica, although grandpa is still in a coma, I think he can hear us. If you are willing, let me marry you again. This time, there will be a proposal, a diamond ring, and a wedding."

James looked up at her and said, "Maybe this proposal is a bit rushed, and the diamond ring was just bought at Golden Plaza. But please believe me, this decision is not rushed; it is well thought out."

Jessica never expected that he would propose to her at such a time, in front of Gerald's sickbed.

This was something she had once dreamed of but dared not hope for.

So much so that now, when it really came true, she still couldn't believe that happiness would come so suddenly.

Tears welled up in Jessica's eyes, and her voice trembled so much that she could hardly speak, "Do you really want to remarry me?"

"Yes, really."

A simple sentence, but James said it with conviction.

Tears streamed down Jessica's face. Looking at his handsome and affectionate face, she trembled as she extended her left hand.

James slipped the ring onto her ring finger, and it fit perfectly.

Tears blurred her vision, but the flawless diamond was so dazzling, emitting an incredibly brilliant light.

Jessica was so excited that she couldn't speak. She said to Gerald, "Grandpa, did you see that? James... he proposed to me."

It turned out that she could also be as happy as other girls, having a sweet proposal.

Although Gerald still hadn't woken up, tears welled up at the corners of his eyes.

Jessica was extremely excited. She pulled James and said, "Did you see that? Grandpa cried, grandpa shed tears. This means he can hear us."

James looked at the comatose Gerald on the bed and silently told himself: He would never let grandpa down, nor would he let grandpa leave this world with regrets.

It seemed that George and the others had received the news and knew that Gerald was nearing the end.

These past few days, they came to see him every day.

Seeing James and Jessica always by Gerald's bedside, Linda said sarcastically, "James, you took on the trouble of acquiring the Evans Corporation, and it's our Jack who is helping you clean up the mess at the company. But here you are, hiding out with the old man. But even if you go back to the Kelly Corporation now, the board and shareholders won't accept you."

James's eyes were sharp as he said word by word, "If you don't want to die too quickly, shut your mouth."
