Chapter 371 Finally Clearing Her Name (1)

After Jessica got back to the department, she still felt pretty crappy.

Now she had Nathan as her personal mentor, and no other teachers dared to give her any tasks.

Nathan was super busy with surgeries, consultations, and teaching at the university, so he didn't have time to keep an eye on her.

Jessica felt like she was just hanging around idly, wanting to work but having no work to do.

A lot of interns were jealous, saying stuff like, "Jessica, you're so lucky. Following a big shot means you don't have to do anything. You can just chill for a few hours every day and then go home. Unlike you, we have to be on duty and have endless tasks."

Jessica quickly said, "Is there anything you haven't finished? Let me help you. I have nothing to do right now anyway."

She wished she could be busier, rather than feeling like a spare part.

Just then, Cynthia came back from her rounds and overheard their conversation.

She smirked at the intern and said, "You dare let Jessica help you? Don't forget, she just got into trouble not long ago. If she messes up, Professor Howard will protect her. But if you get dragged into it, who will protect you?"

As soon as Cynthia finished speaking, everyone's expressions changed, especially the intern, who immediately looked at Jessica like she was the plague and said awkwardly, "Sorry, Jessica. Actually, I don't have much to do. I'll finish it soon, so I won't trouble you."

Despite his polite words, he was thinking, 'Even Cynthia, a senior attending physician who's been here forever, got into trouble because of Jessica. What about me, just an intern?'

Jessica felt super embarrassed.

She knew that whether or not she got expelled from the university, as long as the hospital didn't clear her name, she'd always carry this stigma.

Even if people didn't say it out loud, they'd still reject her in their hearts.

Jessica felt really down and silently sat on a chair.

Watching everyone else in the office being busy, her mood hit rock bottom.

After a long time, Cynthia slowly walked over to her and whispered gloomily, "Jessica, if I were you, I'd give up this career. Believe me, even if you go to another department, no one will dare to use you. Professor Howard only helped you settle this matter, but he can't clear your name, can he?"

Jessica looked at her angrily and said, "What do you want? You framed me and made me take the blame for you. I didn't even hold it against you. Why are you still dragging me down? What did I ever do to you?"

"What do you think?" Cynthia sneered and said sinisterly, "Is James really your cousin?"

Jessica was suddenly shocked, her eyes filled with disbelief. She didn't know why Cynthia suddenly brought this up. Could it be that she knew about her relationship with James?

Seeing her so nervous, Cynthia said hatefully, "I've heard that many rich men keep college students. But I didn't expect a loose woman like you to appear at a prestigious school like Ocean City University. Jessica, you're really shameless! If you have the guts, let your sugar daddy come and clear your name!"

Jessica was shocked and never expected Cynthia to think this way. She warned her word by word, "My relationship with James is none of your business! But you'd better not spread rumors, or I'll sue you for defamation!"

Cynthia didn't care and smirked. "If it's defamation, you can sue me right now! What! Afraid of people talking about the dirty things you've done?"
