Chapter 501 Breaking Off (3)

"What kind of solution?"

Lily suddenly looked up, her gaze completely unfamiliar to Jessica. She said mockingly, "Do you have a solution? In the end, aren't you just going to ask James for help?"

Jessica was stunned, not understanding why Lily had suddenly become like this.

Jessica held her hand and said, "Even if we have to ask James, I don't want you to follow Michael without any dignity. Lily, trust me, we can definitely come up with a better solution than this."

Lily pulled her hand away and said, "You look down on me now, don't you? Yes, you're right, I did become Michael's mistress. It's normal for you to look down on me. Jessica, we are no longer in the same world. Do you understand?"

"No, Lily, we will always be best friends. Since we are friends, I can't just watch you being bullied and threatened by him."

Jessica grabbed her and said, "Come with me, okay? You can stay at my place for now, and I'll ask James to think of a solution."

Lily harshly shook off her hand and yelled, "Stop being so naive, okay? My dad's situation is serious, no one can save me, no one! Jessica, let's end our friendship. Someone like me doesn't deserve to be your friend. And you can't possibly understand my situation! You won't understand my choices!"

After saying that, Lily left the café without looking back, leaving Jessica standing there, feeling as if her heart was empty.

Back at the restaurant, she walked up to Michael and said, "I've finished talking with Jessica, let's go."

Michael smirked and, after greeting James, left with Lily.

After they had walked some distance, Michael asked, "What? Didn't you get your friend to help you escape my clutches of evil?"

Lily forced a smile and said, "How could it be clutches of evil? So many women want to climb into Lawyer Watson's bed. How could I have any other thoughts when I'm with someone as excellent as you?"

But Michael was very clear-headed.

Lily was doing this just to draw a clear line with Jessica, so she wouldn't worry about her.

He couldn't help but find Lily ridiculous. She had already fallen to this state, yet she was still thinking about others.

Meanwhile, James found Jessica.

Seeing Jessica's devastated look, he asked worriedly, "What did you two talk about? What did she say to you?"

Tears welled up in Jessica's eyes as she choked out, "Lily wants to end our friendship."

James knew how important Lily was to Jessica.

He held her in his arms and comforted her, "You still have me. Jessica, I'll always be by your side."

James even thought that this might be for the best, so Jessica wouldn't get involved in the Stewart family's affairs and upset Michael.

But this time, he really saw Lily in a new light.

He had thought Lily would ask Jessica to come to him, passing the trouble onto him.

But she didn't. Lily chose this way, bearing all the pain alone without involving anyone else.

However, Jessica suddenly pulled away from his embrace. She sniffled, tears streaming down her face, "Lily must not want me to worry about her. She ended our friendship for my sake."

No matter what, she wouldn't believe that Lily truly wanted to end their friendship.

Even if Lily called her naive and said she didn't understand her, she wasn't angry at all.
