Chapter 285 James Lied to Her (1)
The top OB-GYN hospital in Ocean City.
Rose's busted-up legs and her shaky pregnancy had pulled in a bunch of big-shot gynecologists from all over. One of them was Kylie's mentor. And Kylie never thought she'd run into this homewrecker again.
The second Rose saw Kylie, she knew. Wasn't this the chick who teamed up with Jessica to hex her? Instead of flipping out, Rose just grinned. Perfect. Kylie could play messenger. Jessica would find out what John did, and Rose wouldn't have to lift a finger. She'd just sit back and wait for Jessica to come crawling.
Kylie watched her mentor grill Rose about her medical history and symptoms, but her mind was elsewhere. Didn't Jessica say James shipped this mistress overseas? Whatever, seeing Rose like this felt like sweet payback. Her legs were toast, and the baby's in trouble. If she miscarried, she wouldn't have anything left to mess with Jessica's family.
Looking at Rose's weak, pitiful state, Kylie silently spat, 'Pah! How can she still smile at me?' She was itching for her mentor to wrap up so she could run and tell Jessica the juicy news.
While the docs were deep in discussion about Rose's condition, Kylie slipped away to text Jessica, setting up a lunch meet. She couldn't wait to spill the tea.
At the cafeteria, Jessica had already grabbed food for both of them.
Kylie rushed over, practically bouncing. "Hand over the shrimp and drumsticks. I've got some killer news!" she blurted out.
"What news?" Jessica squinted. "You're not just trying to scam me out of my shrimp and drumsticks, are you?"
Kylie couldn't hold it in and burst out laughing. "Even though she didn't get zapped by lightning, she's pretty much toast now!"
"Who are you talking about?" Jessica asked, totally lost.
Kylie said, "The mistress, duh! She got into a car wreck. Some 'good Samaritan' busted both her legs!"
"What?" Jessica was more confused than ever. "How do you know?"
Kylie snapped, "Mr. Kelly lied to you. He didn't send her abroad. She got into an accident, her legs are wrecked, and her pregnancy's in danger. She's holed up at a private OB-GYN hospital in the south of Ocean City!"
Jessica's mind flashed back to what James had told her, "John got sued and locked up for breaking someone's legs." So, that person was Rose?
She felt like she'd been hit by a truck, her mind spinning.
Kylie, clueless about Jessica's reaction, kept going, "I never thought today's patient would be her! She looked so pathetic; it was super satisfying! This is karma!"
Suddenly, Jessica jumped up, startling Kylie. She dropped her knife and fork and bolted.
"Jessica! Where are you going?" Kylie shouted.
