Chapter 322 She Is Still His Darling (2)
How could Jessica use their marriage to save John?
James spent the whole night in his dark office, lost in thought.
Lately, the weather had been getting colder, and the coffee shop was busier than ever.
Even on weekdays, Jessica would head to work right after school, earning an hourly wage from her boss.
After James had Sean look into it, he found out Jessica had been working at the coffee shop for the past few days.
He never pictured the pampered Jessica in a shop uniform, smiling at customers.
She was so busy that she didn't even notice him standing outside.
James watched with a heavy heart, feeling a mix of emotions.
Was Jessica really planning to cut ties with him?
She'd rather wear herself out working than lean on him for support.
James felt a knot in his stomach, took a deep breath, and walked into the shop.
Jessica, with her head down, asked, "What can I get you?" while making the previous customer's tea.
There was no response for a long time.
She finally looked up and was surprised to see James.
Her hand paused, and she asked, "How did you know I was here?"
James glanced around at the noisy environment and said, "Let's talk outside. This isn't the place."
Jessica seemed a bit hesitant and said softly, "I still have to work. There are a lot of customers waiting."
James cut to the chase, "How many more drinks can you make with those ingredients? I'll buy them all!"
Jessica looked at James and whispered, "James, are you crazy?"
James whispered back, "Are you coming out with me or not? If you keep stalling, I can go even crazier."
Jessica looked at him in shock, worried he might really do something to embarrass her in front of everyone.
She had no choice but to give in. "Wait a moment. I'll ask the boss for leave."
Since it was almost closing time, the boss let Jessica go home early.
She got into James's car, and without a word, James floored it and headed home.
Jessica nearly threw up and complained, "James, what are you doing? And could you stop coming to my workplace? People will talk!"
James scolded in a low voice, "Shut up! I'll deal with you when we get back!"
Jessica had no idea what she had done wrong or what he wanted to do.
When they got home, James dragged her out of the car.
His steps were fast, and Jessica struggled to keep up, almost falling.
Jessica cried out, "James, let go of me. You're hurting me!"
It wasn't until they reached the bedroom that James let her go.
Seeing his dark expression, Jessica quickly moved away and asked cautiously, "What did I do to upset you this time?"
James glared at her and said, "You'd rather live in a storage room and take on grueling part-time jobs than spend my money? Do you think that makes you noble?"
Jessica said quietly, "Because one day I will leave you, and I need to be independent."
