Chapter 201 He Doesn't Want to Insult Himself

She always thought James needed luxury and couldn't handle discomfort. But here he was, crashing on a couch for Jessica, just a night after their breakup. The realization hit Rose hard, sparking jealousy she couldn't shake.

She steadied herself, put down what she was holding, and quietly walked over, crouching by the couch. Her fingertips brushed James's cheek, waking him up.

James opened his eyes and frowned. "Why are you here? Didn't I say yesterday we shouldn't see each other again?"

He sat up, looking uneasy, then got up to wash his face. Rose quickly followed, blurting out, "James, I'm here to apologize to Miss Evans. I've been so jealous, but I love you. I can't believe I lied about being sick. I was wrong! Please forgive me."

James had calmed down by then. He dried his face, his expression clear. He saw Jessica in the mirror, standing nearby, watching them. She had woken up from the noise.

She was still processing James's words from the night before about wanting to save their marriage. Never expected that today, they would be entangled again.

Jessica, cold and mocking, said, "So, I'm just a spice in your relationship, huh?"

Rose jumped in, "Miss Evans, I'm here to apologize to you." She picked up the gifts by the door. "These are for you. I know I've caused misunderstandings. It's all my fault. Please forgive me."

Jessica glanced at the gifts with a cold smile. "Keep acting," she said icily. "If I don't accept, am I petty and unforgiving?"

Rose smiled awkwardly, then pleaded, "I reflected all night. I shouldn't have ruined your marriage with James. Please ask him to forgive me. I just want to stay by his side quietly. I won't fight you for the title of Mrs. Kelly. Please, let him keep me around!"

Jessica didn't respond but looked at James sarcastically, "What do you say? One at home, one outside?"

James's face turned dark. He grabbed Rose's wrist and snapped, "Come with me." He pulled her out of the room.

Rose whimpered, "James, you're hurting me. I'll do anything for your forgiveness. I would even kneel in front of your wife if that's what it takes."

James said firmly, "How many times do I have to say it? Rose, we're done, it's over!"

Tears welled up in Rose's eyes. "Are you really that heartless? I love you so much. And Jessica? She's a flirt and even seduces Jack! Please, don't be so cruel. I'll be a woman without a title, just to stay by your side, okay?"

James frowned and shot back, "You said you were conservative and had self-respect. Are you really willing to be a secret lover? Rose, I don't want to insult you or myself."

He had never thought of keeping a mistress.
