Chapter 536 You Be Gentle (2)

Nathan gave her a disappointed look before turning and walking away.

Jessica felt a deep ache in her heart.

She knew that maybe Nathan was right.

But hadn't James also given up a lot and sacrificed so much for her?

If James could make sacrifices, why couldn't she do the same for their family?

With that thought, Jessica felt a sense of relief.

That evening, James arrived on time to pick her up from work.

Since they had resolved the issues between them, Jessica no longer felt uncomfortable with him coming to get her.

Seeing her looking a bit down, James asked with concern, "Nathan didn't give you a hard time today, did he?"

Jessica was afraid of reigniting the conflict between James and Nathan.

So, she shook her head and said, "No, he was in the operating room today. I didn't see him."

James reminded her, "If he ever bothers you, just tell me. Don't keep it to yourself, okay?"

Jessica smiled and said, "I know, he's not like that."

James carefully fastened her seatbelt and then stole a quick kiss on her lips, saying softly, "How about we go buy some things for the baby?"

"Now?"

Jessica looked at her slightly rounded belly and said, "It's not even three months yet. We don't even know if it's a boy or a girl."

James laughed and said, "Does it matter? We'll get things for both. What if it's twins, a boy and a girl? Come on, let's go to Golden Plaza and check out some baby stuff."

With that, he drove them to Golden Plaza.

They didn't notice the car following them from a distance.

Rose gripped the steering wheel tightly, her bloodshot eyes fixed on the car ahead.

So, after James ended things with her, he felt no guilt or regret and immediately started being all lovey-dovey with Jessica.

What did he take her for?

Rose followed them to Golden Plaza.

She watched as they went into one baby store after another.

Each time they came out, the assistant behind them carried bags full of items.

James kept Jessica close, and they chatted and laughed, making it clear to anyone how good their relationship was.

Golden Plaza was owned by the Kelly Corporation, and when the manager heard that James was there, he hurried over with several executives to greet them.

"Mr. Kelly, it's an honor to have you and Mrs. Kelly here. Please forgive us for not welcoming you properly!"

The manager followed them closely, his tone humble and respectful.

Jessica felt a bit embarrassed and said to James, "Why don't you let the manager get back to work? We can browse on our own."

James chuckled and whispered in her ear, "What? Still want to keep our relationship a secret? But what can I do? I want everyone to know that you're the lady of the house here."

Jessica's cheeks turned pink, and she playfully glared at him, saying, "I'm not talking to you anymore."

With that, she walked ahead in a huff.

The manager was stunned. When had he ever seen James be so gentle and indulgent with a woman?

It wasn't until he felt James' stern gaze on him that the manager snapped back to reality.

He awkwardly tried to cover for himself, saying, "Mr. Kelly, you treat Mrs. Kelly well."

"Alright, go back to your work and make sure no one disturbs us while we're shopping."

With that, James took his long strides to catch up with Jessica.

Pulling her back into his arms, he said, "Why are you upset? Didn't I say it right, Mrs. Kelly? Don't you want to be the lady of the house here?"
