Chapter 375 Following Nathan in the Future? (1)
Seeing that Jessica couldn't persuade Gerald, James stepped in and said, "Grandpa, you have to stay in the hospital now. Besides, Jessica is interning at this hospital, so it's convenient for her to visit you. Our home is so far from the hospital. Do you really want Jessica to make the trip back and forth?"
Gerald finally gave in. Thinking about how the kids had to work every day and how he was causing them trouble, he felt deeply guilty.
Gerald sighed and said, "Jessica, I didn't think it through. I've been causing trouble for you and James lately. Alright, I will follow your arrangements."
Jessica felt extremely uncomfortable. Gerald was already in this condition but still thinking about them.
She said with a heavy heart, "Grandpa, it's not like that. No matter how far you live, I don't mind the trouble. But only by staying in the hospital can your health be best protected. I want to spend more time with you and talk to you."
Gerald sighed and said, "I knows you are all good kids. If you could give ME a great-grandson before I die, I would have no regrets!"
Jessica and James both felt awkward and exchanged a glance without saying anything.
Only Jessica knew that she could no longer have any connection with James.
Now, not only did James have a child with Rose, but he was also entangled with Cynthia.
She increasingly felt that she and he were drifting further apart.
Once Gerald passed away, they wouldn't even have a reason to meet!
After comforting Gerald, they went to the outer room to rest.
Jessica still clung tightly to the wall.
James frowned and said, "Can you sleep comfortably like that?"
As he spoke, he wrapped his arm around her slender waist and pulled her into his embrace.
Jessica struggled hard and said, "James, let go!"
However, James only held her tighter. His thin lips brushed against her ear, causing her to shiver.
James's ambiguous voice lingered in her ear, "Jessica, Grandpa just asked us to give him a great-grandson. Why don't we fulfill his wish?"
Jessica stiffened. Thinking about everything she had seen that evening, she lowered her voice, "I saw it all. James, I don't want to be just one of your many women."
James turned her body around, his deep eyes staring at her, and said, "What do you mean? Be clear. What did you see?"
Jessica's trembling eyelashes hid the sadness in her eyes as she softly said, "I saw Cynthia get into your car with my own eyes."
James suddenly understood, but he smiled, somewhat pleased.
He lowered his head and kissed her, asking, "Are you jealous?"
"No." Jessica immediately denied it and said quietly, "I just want you to understand that we are impossible. Even without me, you would still have many women. Why does it have to be me?"
James finally let her go, resting his hands under his head, looking at the white ceiling, and sighed softly, "One day you'll understand that no one can replace you."
Jessica didn't understand what he meant. She turned her back to him, but her eyes turned red.
