Chapter 559 Exposing Rose (1)
James avoided her gaze, his tone dismissive. "Almost done."
At that moment, Jessica's heart shattered.
He not only lied to her but also treated her like a fool.
And she, time and again, believed him, giving her heart and passion without reservation.
So, was he planning to keep a wife at home and a mistress outside, deceiving her for a lifetime?
James gently stroked her long hair, apologetically saying, "Jessica, I'm sorry I didn't go with you to get the marriage certificate yesterday and just left. How about this, tomorrow, okay? We'll go tomorrow."
Jessica felt that the James in front of her was so hypocritical.
Last night, when she was in danger, hanging by a thread, where was he?
He was with that Rose, completely unaware that she was in peril.
Even now, he hadn't thought about why she didn't come home last night.
Jessica knew James well enough to see how distracted he was.
His body was here, but his heart was already with Rose. Wasn't that the case?
Seeing Jessica remain silent, James asked, "Jessica, what's wrong? You don't look well. Tomorrow, we'll definitely go get the marriage certificate, okay?"
Jessica found an excuse, saying, "Is getting a marriage certificate so casual? We should pick a good day to get it. Tomorrow doesn't seem like a good day."
James thought for a moment, then nodded. "You're right. I'll leave it to you to pick the day. I'll follow your lead."
"Okay."
Jessica responded softly, but her heart felt like a dead sea, devoid of any waves.
James loosened his tie, tiredly saying, "I'm going to take a shower. If you're tired, go ahead and sleep."
Jessica watched his retreating figure, her gaze growing dimmer and more confused.
What should she do?
Should she tell him everything?
Or should she quietly leave him, never to be entangled with him again?
Jessica sat on the bed with her knees drawn up, biting her knuckles to barely hold back the urge to cry.
The next day, James left early.
He thought she was still asleep, so he moved quietly.
She had woken up when he left the bed.
But she preferred to pretend to be asleep, avoiding eye contact with him.
In the morning, Jessica went out alone to buy a new phone and get a new SIM card.
As she left the phone store, a man in black approached her. "Ms. Evans, our boss would like you to come to the car."
He said "Please," but his attitude was forceful.
Jessica immediately became alert, taking a few steps back. "Who is your boss?"
"The one you met a few days ago," the bodyguard said. "Skyline Club."
Jessica broke out in a cold sweat at the mention of that name.
She knew the owner of the Skyline Club wouldn't let her off so easily!
Sure enough, he had come back for her!
Jessica gripped her phone tightly, instinctively shaking her head. "I don't know your boss! Get out of my way, or I'll call the police!"
It was broad daylight; she didn't believe they could kidnap her on the street.
The bodyguard hesitated. Ambrose had instructed them to be polite and not use force.
But with Jessica being so uncooperative, how could they get her into the car?
At that moment, Ambrose stepped out of the car and walked towards Jessica.
Jessica looked at him nervously. "What do you want? I know you're in cahoots with Pearl!"
