Chapter 317 Resolving the Misunderstanding (1)
Pearl was shaking like a leaf, blurting out, "Mr. Kelly, it's my fault. I slipped up. I didn't mean to. Please, forgive me!"
James's eyes blazed as he shouted, "You asked for it!"
He shoved her aside without a second thought.
Pearl hit the cold, hard floor, sobbing and begging for mercy.
James pulled out his phone and called the Skyline Club. "Send someone to pick up Pearl. Make sure she learns her lesson!"
"No, please, Mr. Kelly," Pearl cried out.
She crawled over, tears streaming down her face. "Mr. Kelly, I won't do it again. Please don't send me back. It's hell there. They'll kill me."
James crouched down, grabbed her jaw harshly, and said, "I told you, you only do what I say! But you're too dumb to listen!"
Ignoring her pleas, he had his bodyguards drag her away, waiting for the Skyline Club folks to show up.
He went back to the sofa, sat down, and called out coldly, "Come out!"
Jessica, who had been hiding behind the wall, was startled and slowly stepped out.
She looked at his angry face and asked, confused, "Why did you send Pearl to a place like the Skyline Club? When did you do that?"
From Pearl's earlier words, Jessica could tell she'd been at the Skyline Club for a while.
She could imagine what Pearl had been through there.
Even though Pearl and she never got along, Jessica never wanted James to humiliate her like that.
It was too cruel for any woman.
James sneered, "She's hurt you so many times, and you still feel sorry for her?"
"I..."
Jessica never saw herself as a sympathetic person, but James's actions scared her a bit.
He was way more ruthless than she thought.
She sighed and said, "I really don't get you. You brought her home, then threw her into that place."
James yanked at his tie, annoyed, and said coldly, "Don't you know why I brought her home? Maybe I was wrong. You're heartless. You don't care at all!"
It was all his doing!
Remembering Jessica's words at the hospital, he coldly asked, "Do you still want to save your dad?"
"Of course I do," Jessica shot back. "You've been trying to save him for so long, but he's still not out. Is it because you can't, or because you feel sorry for that woman and don't want to?"
James's face tightened. "You heartless woman, is that really what you think of me?"
He'd been using his connections with Michael and the police to get John out.
He'd put in so much effort, but she thought he was helping Rose and didn't want to save him.
James said angrily, "John deliberately hit Rose. Don't you think he has any responsibility? How can you question me like that? How can you say those things to hurt Rose? I really regret helping you and him! I should've left him to rot!"
