Chapter 53 He Thinks It's Disgusting

Jessica felt a lump in her throat, tears threatening to spill. She hugged Lily tightly and said, "Lily, thank you. But please, don't do anything reckless for me again. You nearly gave me a heart attack."

Lily patted her back, trying to soothe her. "Alright, I gotta go. But listen, don't let James and that mistress push you around. When it's time to divorce, just do it. Don't drag it out."

The thought of divorce made Jessica uneasy. She mumbled, "Yeah, I know."

Since Lily didn't have a car, Jessica drove her home.

When she got back, Michael was already gone.

James was in the study, buried in work.

Jessica barged in, glaring at him.

James looked up and smirked, "Your friend's got a great figure, way better than yours!"

"You saw her?" Jessica snapped, remembering he had turned away at the time.

James teased, "What, jealous?"

Jessica denied it, "I'm not! Why did you bring Michael over today? Do you know how important a girl's reputation is?"

James, still focused on his computer, replied, "How was I supposed to know she'd show up like that? And don't bring these sketchy friends around here again."

Jessica shot back, "Don't talk about my friend like that! Your friend isn't any better! He asked my friend to be his secret mistress. Do you know that?"

James sneered, "Do you know how many women would kill to be with Michael? He's never had a scandal. Maybe your friend is just dreaming. Does Michael even like her?"

Jessica retorted, "I almost forgot, you and Michael are the same. Why would you believe me?"

James frowned, stepping closer with a dangerous glint in his eye. "What do you mean, the same? What kind of people are Michael and I?"

His handsome face was inches from hers, his breath warm on her flushed cheeks.

Jessica closed her eyes, her heart racing.

James's lips brushed her ear as he whispered, "Don't forget. You still owe me. I have the right to claim it."

Jessica's heart skipped a beat. She pushed him away and lifted her chin defiantly, "Too late!"

Lily was already free. She wouldn't be blackmailed anymore.

James narrowed his eyes, surprised by Jessica's boldness.

But it only intrigued him more.

He stroked her cheek, his gaze intense. "You're my wife. This is something we should've done long ago."

Jessica frowned, "You should do that with Rose."

Her rejection stung James's pride.

When had a woman ever turned him down like this?

He cursed inwardly, 'This ungrateful woman!'

James pulled back, snapping, "Even if you were willing, I wouldn't want a woman who's not clean. It's disgusting!"

Jessica's face went pale. She knew exactly what he meant.
