Chapter 356 She No Longer Wants to Be a Doctor (2)

Nathan was the kind of guy who got how the world worked but just couldn't bring himself to follow the herd.

His words really hit those leaders where it hurt.

"You!" The hospital director was about to blow a gasket, his face turning all sorts of red. "I'm not gonna argue with you. This intern messed up so badly that not even God could save her. And you, instead of backing your team, you're defending this troublemaker. It's ridiculous! I'm heading back with the principal to figure this out. Just tell her to come back to school and face the music!"

With that, the director and the principal stormed out of Nathan's office, looking like they were ready to explode.

Nathan, fuming, slammed his fist on the desk. 'Why? Why isn't Jessica picking up her phone?' he thought, frustration boiling over.

Watching the hospital director leave in a huff while she stayed cool, Cynthia got the picture. The hospital bigwigs were probably thinking the same thing she was; they'd rather protect the hospital's rep than admit their staff screwed up. No one had proof of what went down that night, so Jessica was gonna take the fall.

Nathan walked over to her desk, looking like he was ready to snap.

"Mr. Howard," Cynthia said, keeping her cool, "Did you sort things out with the hospital director? Are you here to clear my name now?"

Nathan's voice was ice-cold. "The whole hospital's buzzing with rumors about Jessica. You started it, didn't you?"

Cynthia's face twitched, a flicker of guilt in her eyes, but she stood her ground. "I didn't! But everyone knows what's up."

Nathan's stare turned icy. "Cynthia, you're gonna regret this."

"Mr. Howard, don't try to scare me," Cynthia smirked. "I've been here a long time. If you had proof, you'd have already gotten the director to punish me, right?"

Nathan was beyond frustrated, his anger with nowhere to go. This was a first for him. Even if the security footage showed Jessica knocking on Cynthia's door, it didn't prove anything. The cameras had no sound, so no one knew what was said. Cynthia was playing that to her advantage, which is why she was so cocky.

Nathan didn't want to waste any more words on her. He needed to find Jessica. He wasn't sure if she was hiding like the director said or if she'd vanished because she couldn't handle it. Either way, it was gonna be a mess.

Nathan rushed out of the hospital to look for Jessica. Her phone was off, but he knew where she lived. He had to make sure she was okay.

He headed to the Evans Mansion first, but a maid answered the door.
