Chapter 94 Blamed Jessica Without Knowing the Facts
Jessica finally got it. Joan and the others had ratted her out to her dad.
Jessica's smile vanished. "What did you say? What did James do?"
John glared at her. "Ruined his company, broke his legs. Wasn't it him? Jessica, you really let me down! Now they want $700,000 in compensation! My company's struggling, but this is your mess. As your father, I'm the one who has to foot the bill for it. I'm getting old. Can't you cut me some slack?"
Jessica was stunned. She had no clue about what John was talking about.
She thought James just taught Kevin a lesson at the Evans family. She had no idea things escalated. And now Kevin was blackmailing John for $700,000?
Jessica said coldly, "Dad, don't worry about it. I don't know what Joan and the others told you, but Kevin dug his own grave. He was arrogant with James, and it's his fault! As for Joan, she and Grandma tricked me into coming home, pretending you were sick, and tried to force me to be with Kevin. Did they tell you that?"
John was shocked. "What? No way! They know you're married to James. How could they introduce you to Kevin? That's absurd!"
Jessica sneered, "Exactly, they didn't tell you. I know you respect them, and they must've blamed me. It's fine if you don't believe me. But I won't admit I was wrong. They started this, and they deserve it!"
Just then, someone knocked on the car window.
Jessica saw James outside. She quickly opened the door. "Why are you here?"
James pulled her out. "To pick you up. Wait in my car. I'll be there in a minute."
Jessica was stunned. Was he going to talk to her dad? She felt uneasy not knowing what would transpire between James and John.
James softened his tone, "Be good. Go wait in my car, okay?"
Jessica obediently went to James's car.
Seeing how Jessica listened to James, John said angrily, "James, I don't know why Jessica listens to you so much, but you and Jessica causing trouble at the Evans family yesterday was ridiculous."
James's eyes turned cold. "So you blamed Jessica without knowing the facts. Mr. Evans, if she didn't care so much about you, it wouldn't have been just Kevin who suffered today."
John got even angrier. "What do you mean? You say I don't know the facts, but how much do you know? You've been married to Jessica for two years. Do you even know her? What right do you have to criticize me?"
James laughed bitterly. "Yeah, I didn't understand her before. But now I do, and I know how much she's suffered at the Evans family."
