Chapter 102 Confirming the High-Education Identity
Vincent remembered it very clearly.
Back when Cecilia and Juliana graduated from high school together, Juliana had done well, so he had deliberately shown off and asked Theodore how Cecilia did. Theodore casually mentioned that she went to a local college without specifying which one, leading Vincent to believe that Cecilia hadn't done well. He even thought she might have only gotten into a community college. Over the years, Vincent had never heard anything impressive about Cecilia's academic performance.
But now, Cecilia was claiming to have such high qualifications.
He couldn't believe it.
Vincent glared at Cecilia, wondering how far she could keep up the pretense.
She was definitly lying!
"May I use the computer and projector in the conference room?" Cecilia asked.
"Of course." Theodore nodded.
He was well aware of Cecilia's academic background.
However, he was hearing about the Blue Ribbon for the first time.
At that moment, he couldn't help but feel a bit of anticipation.
The conference room staff quickly prepared a computer and a large projector for Cecilia.
Cecilia stood at the podium, her slender fingers deftly tapping on the keyboard. As she typed, she said, "This is the official website of Serenovia City University. To access the information, only faculty and students can log in. Students use their student ID as the username. I'm entering my student ID from when I attended."
With that, Cecilia finished typing and instantly logged in, revealing a basic information page with her profile, including her photo, name, gender, age, and grade.
Cecilia moved the cursor to the education section and clicked.
An electronic copy of her degree certificate appeared on the screen.
Without a doubt, Cecilia had attended Serenovia City University, majoring in International Trade, and had earned a dual master's degree.
Everyone in the room was visibly shocked.
The room fell silent due to the overwhelming surprise.
Cecilia didn't seem fazed by the astonished looks. She logged out of the Serenovia City University website and then accessed the Fors University website, saying, "The login process is the same as Serenovia City University."
Everyone watched as Cecilia logged into Fors University's internal network.
This was the internal network of the world's top university, and although most people in the room had high academic qualifications, none had graduated from this institution.
Cecilia typed "Blue Ribbon" into the internal search, and a page popped up.
The page displayed photos of all the students who had received the Blue Ribbon honor, with Cecilia's photo at the end, indicating she was the most recent recipient.
"So." Cecilia looked up at Vincent. "do you believe me now?"
Vincent's expression at that moment was worse than if he had swallowed something foul.
He never imagined that Cecilia would actually have proof.
"Uncle Vincent?" Cecilia called again, not getting a response from Vincent.
"I believe you!" Vincent snapped, "What are you so proud of?"
Cecilia said, "I'm not proud, just making sure everyone saw it clearly. If everyone has seen it, I'll log out now. After all, this internal network is only accessible to Fors University students, and showing it to others violates school rules."
In fact, there wasn't any confidential information, and the school didn't explicitly forbid showing it to others. It was just that the top university had an inherent sense of superiority, making it seem like accessing the internal network was an honor.
"Why are you so angry? Are you jealous?" Cecilia's seemingly casual remark.
That moment made Vincent explode.
He was already furious.
He had come to avenge Juliana, but now Cecilia had shown off in front of all the company's top executives.
He snapped, "What nonsense are you talking about? Why would I be angry?! Besides, just because you're good at academics, what's there to be jealous of? Being top in school doesn't necessarily mean you'll achieve anything!"
"You're right. I've heard that those with average grades are the most capable. Like Andrew, Isadora, and Juliana, they might all surpass me in the future." Cecilia smiled sincerely.
She was actually mocking Vincent's children, implying they were all mediocre.
Vincent gritted his teeth in anger.
Cecilia was becoming more and more insolent!
Cecilia didn't waste any more time on Vincent. She closed the computer, stepped down from the podium, and walked to where she had entered, facing the now grim-faced Charles. "Mr. Wolf, am I now qualified to take the position of Sales Director?"
"Just knowing some company matters and having a high degree, what does that prove? Real ability isn't just about what's on paper. Some people have impressive resumes but are useless in practice," Charles wasn't about to give up targeting Cecilia.
"But if you don't give me a chance to practice, Mr. Wolf, how can I prove myself?" Cecilia retorted.
"I'm not saying you won't get a chance. You can start from the bottom. Once you achieve results and withstand the company's scrutiny, promoting you will be natural, and no one will question your abilities or accuse Theodore of favoritism," Charles argued logically.
He had previously discussed with Vincent that they couldn't let Cecilia take the director position. At most, she could be a regular manager, like Juliana, an office manager.
Cecilia was silent for a moment.
She seemed at a loss for words.
Theodore also found it difficult to speak at this point.
Earlier, he could help Cecilia by mentioning her experience and qualifications, but now, talking about favoritism, as the chairman, if he defended his daughter, it would seem like he was admitting to it.
So, Theodore chose to remain silent.
He was also thinking about the lowest position he could secure for Cecilia.
Charles, seeing Cecilia's silence, thought she had no argument left, so he continued, "I don't want to be the bad guy or offend Theodore. But for the sake of the company, I have to consider it. At least I have to be fair to myself, to everyone here, and to the thousands of employees at the Lockhart Group."
Then he added, "So, I propose that Cecilia start as a center manager in the sales department. This way, her impressive resume isn't wasted, and as the Theodore's daughter, I believe she has more potential for growth. I suggest Cecilia start as a manager."
