Chapter 801 Regret
Seraphina dropped a sentence and left directly.
Everyone just stared dumbfounded at Seraphina's departing figure, making the scene even more awkward.
The oppressive atmosphere made no one dare to move, feeling that even breathing was wrong at this moment.
Dashiell's face was extremely grim.
He pressed his lips together and said, "Meeting adjourned!"
Dashiell got up and left.
Leaving everyone in the conference room in a daze.
This was probably the shortest meeting in Everhart Bank's history!
Seraphina left Everhart Bank.
She left decisively, but as she sat in the car leaving, she still felt somewhat unwilling.
This was, after all, the Everhart family's business. Leaving impulsively like this, if Atticus woke up, he would definitely be furious with her again.
Seraphina reluctantly drove away.
She didn't know when she started driving herself again.
This was probably what they call growing up.
Forced to grow up.
Seraphina drove directly to the hospital.
No matter how late it was, Seraphina would come to the hospital. She didn't know if Atticus would wake up, but she believed in what the doctors said, in miracles.
She pushed open the door to the hospital room.
Atticus lay on the hospital bed, medical equipment sustaining his life.
No matter how much Seraphina tried to disguise her feelings, she couldn't when she saw Atticus lying there. She sat by his bed, holding his now thin hand, and softly called, "Dad."
There would be no response.
Seraphina lowered her eyes, feeling a bit sad.
No matter what, she used to feel like she had a home. Now, she suddenly felt like she had nothing.
She calmed her emotions and started talking to Atticus, "I had a fight with Dashiell today."
"Dashiell said I wasn't doing my job well."
"In front of all the senior executives at Everhart Bank, he didn't leave me any dignity."
"I got so angry that I said I quit."
"I was really mad at the time. After all, I'm the daughter of the Everhart family, even if we're down and out, I still have my pride. How could Dashiell scold me like that? He didn't see my efforts and hard work. I've been working so hard that I have dark circles under my eyes."
Seraphina became more and more aggrieved as she spoke.
And more and more emotional.
She didn't even notice that a figure had appeared outside the hospital room at some point.
"I worked so hard for what? Yes, I wanted to stay at Everhart Bank because it's our family's business. I couldn't just watch it become someone else's. I had my own selfish reasons. But more importantly, I wanted to share the burden with Dashiell. I saw him sometimes so tired that he fell asleep at his desk, and I couldn't bear it. But what about him!"
Seraphina said angrily, "He blamed me for being incompetent! I'm not a genius who can learn everything instantly. My IQ is limited, what can I do?"
The figure at the door seemed to be emotionally affected but didn't interrupt Seraphina's conversation with Atticus.
"But Dad," Seraphina called Atticus, "even though Dashiell was so mean to me just now, not giving me any respect, I kind of regret it now. Why did I have to be so impulsive? Being scolded doesn't cause any real harm, why couldn't I just endure it? Dashiell was so harsh because I was too stupid. Admitting I'm stupid isn't that hard."
The figure at the door seemed to stifle a laugh.
It was silent, so Seraphina didn't notice.
She continued, "Dad, do you think if I go back and apologize now, Dashiell will forgive me and let me keep working at Everhart Bank?"
Seraphina seriously pondered this question.
But thinking of Dashiell's stern face made her hesitate again.
Clearly angry at being scolded by Dashiell, she now deeply regretted it.
When would she ever change her impulsive nature?
Seraphina felt completely frustrated.
"Maybe you should try," a voice came from the doorway.
Seraphina was startled.
She turned around and saw Magnolia leaning against the door, looking at her with a mocking expression.
"When did you get here?" Seraphina's face turned pale.
How much of what she had just said to Atticus had Magnolia heard?
She could almost imagine how Magnolia would mock her.
If she told Dashiell, Seraphina would really want to die of embarrassment.
"For a while now," Magnolia recalled, seriously saying, "probably since you said you've put a lot of effort into your work."
Damn it!
So she heard everything?
"Why didn't you say anything when you came? Don't you think it's shameless to eavesdrop on me?" Seraphina was furious.
"I was listening openly. Besides, you were having such a good time talking to your dad, it would have been rude to interrupt."
Seraphina could never win an argument with Magnolia, and she felt frustrated.
She got up and left Atticus's bedside.
Out of sight, out of mind!
"Leaving?" Magnolia asked, watching Seraphina's actions.
"Yes," Seraphina replied.
Not saying much.
If she wasn't embarrassed, it would be others who were.
"Do you want me to say something to Dashiell for you?"
"Say what?" Seraphina instantly became excited.
"Ask him to give you another chance to work at Everhart Bank."
"No need!" Seraphina refused immediately, "I don't want to go back."
"Don't regret it."
No matter how much she didn't want to regret it, she couldn't say it out loud.
Magnolia looked at Seraphina, who seemed about to die of frustration, and couldn't help but laugh. She said, "Dashiell is quite magnanimous. He usually doesn't hold grudges against immature people."
"Who are you calling immature!" Seraphina was furious.
Magnolia not only mocked her but also laughed at her!
"Just a reminder, it's up to you whether you want to fight for it or not." Magnolia shrugged indifferently, looking very magnanimous, with an air of nobility.
In stark contrast to the flustered Seraphina.
With a mother like this, Seraphina began to wonder if Dashiell was blind when he fell for her!
Seraphina left in frustration.
Although she didn't like Magnolia, whether it was before or after she liked Dashiell, whether Magnolia and Atticus divorced or not, they had always been in a hostile state.
But after Atticus's accident, Magnolia didn't leave and often came to see Atticus, which touched her.
Seraphina got back into the car.
Still frustrated.
Frustrated to death.
She wanted to return to Everhart Bank, but thinking of Dashiell's face made her want to back out!
Damn it.
Seraphina gritted her teeth.
It wasn't the first or second time she had embarrassed herself in front of Dashiell!
In Dashiell's eyes, she was already like this. How much worse could it get?
With a determined heart.
Seraphina stepped on the gas and drove back to Everhart Bank.
It's just swallowing her pride and admitting her mistake. At worst, she'd be kicked out again.
