Chapter 162 Cecilia's Assertiveness
Vincent's partner was Rebecca, no surprise there.
Rebecca had no intention of letting Cecilia achieve her goals easily.
She found out Cecilia was ambitious. Cecilia went from having no desires to being full of energy and assertiveness, creating some miracles in a short time.
But so what?
The more Cecilia wanted to achieve, the more Rebecca wanted to block her.
Once Rebecca decided on her strategy, she first looked for a helper.
She knew having help would make things much easier.
She didn't know what Cecilia was up to exactly, but if someone could find out for her, she could focus on causing trouble for Cecilia.
So, she turned to Vincent, who had a grudge against Cecilia's family.
Initially, she thought of Dominic.
Dominic hated Cecilia, and the enemy of her enemy is her friend. Teaming up with Dominic seemed perfect, but because of Alaric, she decided against it. Dominic and Alaric were enemies, and she didn't want to upset Alaric.
Plus, Vincent worked at the Lockhart Group and could keep tabs on Cecilia. Teaming up with him was all upside.
To her surprise, Vincent agreed right away.
He didn't hesitate, doubt, or dig into her background. He just agreed.
This showed Vincent really hated Cecilia and wanted her gone.
It also meant Cecilia was formidable enough that Vincent needed help.
From Rebecca's view, dealing with Cecilia wasn't hard.
Whatever Cecilia wanted to develop, Rebecca would just block it.
Especially after hearing Cecilia vowed to achieve an impossible goal in three to six months, Rebecca felt making her fail would be easy.
It took Rebecca half a day to figure out a plan.
Cecilia wanted to develop the Tower of Light?
Rebecca would announce she also wanted to build a commercial district. Whether she actually built it didn't matter. As long as people believed it, no businesses would move into the Tower of Light. Delaying Cecilia for three to six months would be enough.
Vincent agreed with Rebecca's plan.
This way, Cecilia's goal of attracting businesses to the Tower of Light would be a dream.
Vincent could use his position at the Lockhart Group to hinder her progress, making everything she did difficult.
Cecilia would have no choice but leave the Lockhart Group on her own.
Cecilia walked into Gordon Cunningham's office, the director of advertising and media.
Gordon was polite on the surface.
He greeted her warmly, "Mrs. Whitaker, nice to see you."
"Nice to see you too, Mr. Cunningham." Cecilia smiled and got straight to the point, "I'm here to ask why our advertising resource application was rejected."
"I already gave the reason to Ms. Jones, didn't I?" Gordon glanced at Diana and then said, "Well, let me explain it to you as well."
"Don't bother explaining; Diana already told me, and I don't accept your reasoning," Cecilia said.
"Mrs. Whitaker, I'm not trying to make things difficult. Promoting won't work now. The Starlight Group announced their commercial district plan, and businesses won't choose us. Any campaigns would be a waste," Gordon said, trying to sound righteous. "I'm thinking of the company's best interests; I don't want us to incur unnecessary losses."
"What losses?" Cecilia's eyes narrowed. "Creating buzz for our mall is a loss? Just because it doesn't bring immediate value, it's a loss? Mr. Cunningham, promotional loss isn't calculated based on sales figures. Promotion is about generating awareness, not directly driving sales. Actual sales are a separate marketing expense, not part of your promotional budget."
Gordon was speechless. He hadn't expected Cecilia to be so knowledgeable. He thought he could brush her off with a few words, but she sharply refuted his excuse.
"I want to do promotions to create a spread effect. The Starlight Group is heavily promoting their commercial district. If we stand by and watch, have you thought about the consequences?" Cecilia asked. "Everyone will know about the Starlight Group's project, while our Tower of Light will look abandoned. Can you bear that result?"
Gordon was extremely embarrassed.
"The Tower of Light is in its current state because the promotion wasn't done properly. If we had kept up with promotions like the Starlight Group, would we, as experienced commercial real estate developers, be pushed to this point? If we had created buzz earlier, the Starlight Group wouldn't even have a chance now!"
Cecilia's assertiveness left Gordon speechless.
"If you insist blocking our efforts to create buzz, Mr. Cunningham, I'm starting to question how you get this position," Cecilia mocked.
She knew dealing with people like him required firmness. Showing weakness would only fuel his arrogance.
"Also, Mr. Cunningham, have you forgotten that the Advertising and Media Department is a support department, not a functional one? Since when does the sales department need to apply for advertising? Your department should actively support the sales department, even proactively submitting promotional plans to help with market planning and marketing, not just approving requests." Cecilia's eyes turned cold. "Don't forget your duty."
Gordon was left in an extremely awkward position. He couldn't refute her because Cecilia's points were all valid.
"I expect a promotional plan for the Tower of Light by the end of today," Cecilia said, leaving the room.
Her assertiveness left Diana completely stunned.
