Chapter 202 I Was Not Assaulted

Cecilia bit her lip, trying to keep her emotions in check.

Was her love for him that obvious?

She thought if she convinced herself she didn't love him, it would be true.

She didn't realize she was just fooling herself, and Alaric had seen through it all along.

What was the point of all her pretending?

"Cecilia, I love you," Alaric confessed.

He had told her once before, lying injured in a hospital bed after saving her.

In the dead of night, he had said, "Cecilia, I like you."

It wasn't just sleep talk; it never had been.

She had just chosen to ignore it.

"Do you have anything else to say?" Alaric asked.

She didn't respond, and he didn't push her.

He seemed confident she loved him, so he didn't need her to say it.

Cecilia snapped back to reality.

"Are you angry tonight?" she asked.

Alaric frowned slightly.

"Rebecca said I traded my body to stay alive," Cecilia said, looking at him.

"Not angry," Alaric's voice was firm, with a hint of something darker. "In the face of life, nothing else matters. I'm even grateful you chose that way to stay alive!"

If he had found her cold, lifeless body, he didn't know what he would have done.

On the way there, he had thought a lot.

He could accept many outcomes for Cecilia.

The only thing he couldn't accept was her death.

"I also think life is more important," Cecilia said, explaining Rebecca's accusations. "I don't know why, but I just felt you would show up. Even if you weren't in Serenovia City, I believed you would come back to save me. Even though Rebecca kept saying nothing could influence what you were doing, I just believed you would appear. I just believed the only person who would come to save me was you!"

Alaric tightened his grip on Cecilia's hand.

He was afraid that if he had been a moment too late, Cecilia would have died.

"So, I used this extreme method to buy more time," Cecilia said. "But when that man was really about to assault me, I regretted it in that second."

Alaric's face finally showed a slight change.

He wasn't concerned about her virginity.

He just couldn't bear the thought of all the pain she had endured.

"I regretted rejecting your love," Cecilia said, watching Alaric's emotions shift.

Sometimes she thought he was frighteningly cold.

No one could see through what he was thinking.

But sometimes she felt he was just a man with emotions, an ordinary man.

"It doesn't matter anymore," Alaric's eyes were so tender they could melt any woman.

His fingers ran through her smooth hair, lifting her cheek.

"Do you want to know if I was really raped?" Cecilia asked.

"I'll find out eventually," Alaric replied bluntly.

Cecilia's eyes flickered. He didn't want to know right now.

She had wanted to ease his discomfort.

"When you're ready," Alaric said seriously.

How inscrutable he was. She had given up trying to figure him out.

She remembered Rebecca saying Alaric would only go to such lengths for one person. That person wasn't her or Rebecca.

Now she didn't want to know who it was, just like Alaric didn't want to know if she had been raped.

When she truly love him, she couldn't care about so many things. Before they met, their pasts were only accountable to themselves.

She once had Dominic. Alaric had someone special too. They were even now.

Having figured it out, Cecilia wrapped her arms around Alaric's neck, knowing how dangerous this intimate gesture was.

"Now, I'm ready," she teased.

Alaric was shocked. His body stiffened. He didn't expect her to give in so quickly. Just a few days ago, even earlier tonight, her rejection was clear.

Suddenly, Cecilia kissed him, her tongue slipping in. Alaric couldn't resist. His hand gripped the back of her head, deepening the kiss, pulling her closer.

"Oh no!" Cecilia cried out, her eyes welling up with tears.

Alaric struggled to control himself. "I haven't even touched you yet. Where are you hurting?"

"You touched my wound," Cecilia said, tears blurring her vision.

"You're playing with me!" Alaric's face twisted.

"I forgot, I'm still a patient," Cecilia replied.

Alaric just looked at her, feeling like killing her.

"You don't want me to get hurt, do you?"

"One day, you'll drive me crazy!" Alaric released her and rushed into the bathroom. The sound of the shower started.

Cecilia felt a bit guilty. She had lost her senses in the moment.

Alaric took a cold shower and lay on the bed, his body cold. By then, Cecilia had already fallen asleep.

He got into bed, deliberately keeping his distance from her. Usually, he would almost push her off the bed!

Cecilia lightly bit her lip and said, "Alaric, actually tonight, I wasn't assaulted."

She said it anyway.

The corners of Alaric's mouth lifted slightly.
