Chapter 656 It's Not Good to Toy with Others' Feelings
Seraphina clocked out right on time and headed to the gates of Whitaker Villa, just as Cecilia pulled up too.
Seeing Cecilia, Seraphina rushed over.
But before she could get close, Augustus stepped in front of her.
Seraphina's face changed instantly.
Was Augustus actually guarding against her?
Seeing Seraphina's expression, Cecilia quickly explained, "I'm pregnant, so Augustus is a bit nervous."
"What?" Seraphina screamed.
Cecilia instinctively touched her belly, worried the baby might get startled.
Seraphina's scream also took Augustus by surprise.
"You're pregnant? When did this happen? Why didn't you tell me? How far along are you? Any morning sickness?" Seraphina was unusually excited.
She even pushed Augustus aside.
Noticing Cecilia's expression, Augustus stepped aside but stayed alert, watching Seraphina closely.
"About two months. It's fine; no major symptoms. Just a bit uncomfortable when I brush my teeth in the morning, but otherwise, I'm good," Cecilia said.
As she spoke, she pulled Seraphina into the Whitaker Villa.
"It's not fair!" Seraphina complained, "When I was pregnant, it was like hell. How can you be so relaxed? I almost threw up my stomach back then. Thinking about it now, I still feel..."
She suddenly stopped talking.
Cecilia held Seraphina's hand tightly and said, "You'll have more kids in the future."
Seraphina nodded silently.
When would that be?
Seraphina thought, 'Even if I have kids, they won't be Dashiell's.'
Her heart ached again.
The child she once hated the most had become her biggest regret in life.
She didn't even dare to think about it, fearing that it might cause her to break down.
"Alaric must be very nervous." Seraphina changed the topic.
Cecilia agreed, "He's overly dramatic."
"How dramatic? Tell me." Seraphina looked excited.
Cecilia recounted everything Alaric had done recently to Seraphina, more like a complaint than sharing.
Seraphina laughed so hard she was bending over.
Alaric usually seemed normal, but who knew he was so interesting in private.
During the conversation, Cecilia also revealed that Cassius had become a father.
Seraphina was stunned. "Cassius has a wife and kid?"
She thought Cassius's personality would never lead to marriage.
Cecilia nodded.
"Who was unlucky enough to marry Cassius?" Seraphina couldn't help but complain.
"Lily." Cecilia didn't hide it from Seraphina.
In fact, many things, as long as she reminded Seraphina, Seraphina wouldn't spread.
"Who?" Seraphina couldn't remember for a moment.
"The spokesperson for the Lockhart Group last time," Cecilia prompted.
Hearing this, Seraphina obviously remembered, "Such a pure girl like Lily married Cassius, what a pity!"
Cecilia smiled. "Who knows who the real winner will be."
"What?" Seraphina was surprised and asked, "You think Lily can outsmart Cassius?"
Cecilia replied, "Let's wait and see."
Seraphina looked at her meaningfully and said, "Cecilia, I always feel like you have superpowers."
"What?" Cecilia raised an eyebrow.
Seraphina said, "The ability to predict the future."
Cecilia smiled.
Yes.
She had a ten-year superpower."Otherwise, how could you have picked Alaric so perfectly?" Seraphina always marveled.
Back when Dominic was all the rage, Cecilia had decisively chosen Alaric.
To this day, Seraphina couldn't understand how Cecilia could be so smart, and she admired her greatly.
If she had even half of Cecilia's smarts, her love life wouldn't be such a mess.
When Seraphina and Cecilia started chatting, they could go on forever, losing track of time.
It wasn't until Alaric came home that Seraphina left.
Seraphina was actually quite self-aware. Knowing that Alaric was leaving tomorrow, she left enough time for Cecilia and Alaric.
But with Augustus seeing her off, she wasn't entirely alone.
Sometimes she was really touched by Cecilia's little gestures.
She sat in the back seat of the car, staring blankly at the night outside the window.
She suddenly remembered the last time she was in Augustus's car, Dashiell was sitting next to her.
"Ms. Everhart," Augustus suddenly spoke.
"Are we there?" Seraphina snapped out of her daze, thinking they had arrived, only to realize she had been daydreaming.
She seemed to be looking at the scenery outside, but her thoughts were far away.
"No," Augustus said.
Seraphina felt a bit embarrassed.
She thought she was really quite embarrassing sometimes.
"I just fell asleep. I thought we had arrived," Seraphina explained herself.
Augustus glanced at her through the rearview mirror and said, "Are you and Mr. Rainier on good terms?"
Seraphina didn't expect Augustus to ask this question suddenly.
She felt inexplicably flustered and replied, "Not really."
Augustus asked, "Do you like him?"
"What?" Seraphina didn't think Augustus was a talkative person.
"I mean, if you don't like him, don't get too close to him." Augustus wasn't good at being subtle.
Seraphina pursed her lips and asked, "Are you close?"
She hadn't considered it much before, but gradually, she realized that Dashiell had a good relationship with Alaric and Cassius.
Dashiell often visited Cecilia's house, and it didn't seem to be because of Cecilia.
Seraphina didn't ask much about many things.
She felt that if Cecilia didn't tell her something, it wasn't because she didn't want to, but because she couldn't.
Seraphina didn't want to make things difficult for Cecilia.
Augustus didn't answer Seraphina's question, he just stated his opinion. "Playing with someone's feelings isn't good."
"Yes." Seraphina nodded.
Her behavior was so bad that even Augustus couldn't stand it.
Then Augustus dropped Seraphina off at her community and left.
He didn't know if he had done the right thing tonight.
He just felt that Dashiell shouldn't fail because of Seraphina!
At night, Cecilia sat on the bed waiting for Alaric to finish his shower.
She had long been prepared for his departure, but now that the moment had come, she found it hard to accept.
She sighed, watching Alaric come out with just a towel around his waist.
His hair was still a bit wet.
The muscle lines on his body were full of temptation.
Cecilia turned her face away.
Since they couldn't make love, she might as well not look.
Noticing Cecilia's reaction, Alaric couldn't help but chuckle, "For the sake of our daughter, bear with it."
Cecilia didn't want to argue about the "daughter" he kept mentioning.
Anyway, if it turned out to be a boy, it wouldn't be Cecilia who guessed wrong!
