Chapter 653 Argument, Kiss

Dashiell whipped out his phone, but before he could dial, Seraphina lunged at him, trying to snatch it away.

Dashiell's eyes narrowed.

"Don't call!" Seraphina protested.

He shot her a cold look.

As she got closer, the stench of alcohol hit him hard.

For a moment, Dashiell was caught off guard by her sudden move, and in that split second, Seraphina managed to grab his phone.

Without a second thought, she hurled it straight into the nearby swimming pool.

The phone splashed into the water.

Dashiell's face darkened.

Even Cassius, standing nearby, looked a bit freaked out.

Everyone knew Dashiell was usually pretty chill and rarely lost his temper. Even when Cassius messed with him on purpose, Dashiell would just let it slide. But if anyone messed with his computer or phone, all bets were off. That was a hacker's sacred ground!

Cassius remembered the time he accidentally used Dashiell's computer for gaming and almost got his head knocked off.

When Dashiell got mad, it was no joke.

Cassius thought to himself, even if Seraphina didn't get beaten to a pulp tonight, she might end up half-paralyzed.

He watched as Dashiell's anger slowly bubbled up.

Seraphina, on the other hand, seemed clueless about Dashiell's rage. After tossing his phone, she looked pretty pleased with herself. "Let's see how you call Sebastian now..."

Seraphina screamed as Dashiell suddenly yanked her toward him. The sudden pull nearly scared her to death.

She felt herself being dragged away by Dashiell. His grip was so strong she couldn't fight back. Plus, she was drunk and already dizzy. Being handled so roughly made her feel like she was going to puke.

"Augustus," Dashiell said as he dragged Seraphina along, "Give me a ride."

"Got it," Augustus replied, following them quickly.

Dashiell opened the car door and shoved Seraphina inside, then got in beside her.

Seraphina twisted and struggled, trying to resist.

Why did Dashiell get to drag her away?

Why did she have to leave just because he said so? She wasn't done drinking yet.

She hadn't settled things with Cassius yet.

Seraphina was fuming.

Dashiell, though, didn't care. He even kept his distance, sitting far away from her.

He turned his head toward the window, showing Seraphina only the back of his head.

Her anger suddenly faded for some reason.

She looked at Dashiell's back, her eyes inexplicably tearing up.

She felt like Dashiell was so far away from her.

Even though he was right next to her, it felt like he was miles away.

The car was dead silent.

From start to finish, Dashiell didn't look back at Seraphina once.

The car pulled up to the entrance of Seraphina's apartment complex.

Inside, Seraphina didn't move to get out.

Dashiell waited a moment before turning back. "You're here," he said, reminding her she could leave now.

Seraphina looked at him, not saying a word or making a move.

Dashiell frowned.

The next second, he opened the car door, walked around to her side, and opened her door. "Get out."Seraphina tried to keep her emotions in check.

Dashiell was being really cold to her.

"Get out," he repeated, sounding impatient.

Seraphina got out of the car, thinking if she didn't, he might just kick her out. She knew she couldn't take him on anyway.

As soon as she stepped out, Dashiell shut the door and turned to leave.

But Seraphina grabbed his coat.

Dashiell stopped.

"I need to ask you something," she said softly, almost hesitantly.

When had Seraphina ever been like this in front of Dashiell?

He swallowed hard. "Go ahead."

"Sebastian said you took twenty percent of his shares in Everhart Bank," she said.

After talking with Sebastian earlier, she'd been feeling really down. She turned down his offer to take her home and went back alone, but she couldn't shake the feeling.

Feeling so overwhelmed, she went straight to Cecilia's house, hoping Cecilia could help her vent. But instead, she ran into Dashiell and Cassius. Since she was there to blow off steam anyway, she started drinking heavily with Cassius.

Now, in the dead of night, it felt like all her thoughts were spilling out, and she was at her lowest.

"Yeah," Dashiell admitted.

Seraphina said, "If Sebastian still had that twenty percent, he wouldn't be able to have a physical relationship with me. Without it, there'd be no more concerns between us..."

"What are you getting at?" Dashiell cut her off, his expression cold.

Her heart ached.

She just wanted to know if Dashiell cared about this. If he really cared, he wouldn't have taken the shares from Sebastian.

Thinking of this, Seraphina said, "It's nothing," and turned to walk away.

Dashiell left without a second thought.

"I'll tell my dad not to fire you," Seraphina suddenly said.

Dashiell paused.

She continued, "Even though Sebastian always says your goal is to get our family's assets, I believe that if you really wanted them, you wouldn't have waited this long. And my dad isn't stupid; he wouldn't make such a mistake..."

"Sebastian's right," Dashiell said bluntly.

Seraphina was stunned.

She looked at him, momentarily speechless.

Dashiell went on, "It was fine before; I had feelings for you. Now I don't, so I just want to get my hands on the Everhart family's assets. I either have to choose love or money!"

Her eyes reddened.

"Dashiell, I really want to get along with you. My dad and Magnolia might get back together. Can we not be like this?"

"I'll say it again; my goal now is to take all the Everhart family's assets from Atticus!" Dashiell said coldly. "If you can stop me, do it. If not, just wait to lose everything."

With that, he walked away.

Seraphina watched him go, instinctively reaching out to grab him.

She really didn't want things to be this tense between them.

As soon as her hand brushed against his clothes, he instinctively caught her wrist, his grip firm and unyielding. A sharp sting shot through her, and tears welled up in her eyes from the sudden pain.

How much did Dashiell hate her to treat her like this?

She struggled to break free.

Suddenly, Dashiell pressed her against the nearby car, and his lips unexpectedly met hers.

Her eyes widened.

The sudden turn of events was too much for her to process.

Was she crazy, or was Dashiell crazy?
