Chapter 620 Quarrel
Seraphina totally got where Dashiell was coming from.
Even though he rarely lost his cool at work, he was definitely a stickler for the rules. Anyone who messed up or caused trouble was in for it.
Apparently, Daphne had lost some important data and was freaking out about it.
"Alright, go ahead and use my computer," Seraphina said.
Daphne quickly thanked her and then called back, asking for the password. Seraphina tried a bunch of different ones, but none of them worked, leaving her stumped. Meanwhile, Daphne was on the verge of tears, and Seraphina was baffled—how could the password be wrong? She was sure she remembered it.
Finally, after Daphne's desperate pleading, Seraphina, who had planned to have a drink, headed back to Everhart Bank.
When Seraphina got to the office, Daphne's eyes were brimming with tears. "I'm so sorry, Ms. Everhart. I didn't mean to keep you here so late. Mr. Rainier just yelled at me again, and I..." Her voice was shaky, and she was about to cry.
"It's okay. I know how Dashiell is," Seraphina reassured her.
She quickly went to her desk and entered the password.
As soon as she touched the keyboard, she had a sudden realization.
She remembered she had changed the case of a letter, no wonder it wasn't working.
She quickly found the file and sent it to Daphne.
Daphne thanked her profusely before leaving.
Just as Seraphina was about to shut down the computer and head out, Dashiell opened the office door and barked, "Make me a cup of coffee!"
He didn't even glance at Seraphina and Daphne before closing the door.
Daphne quickly got up to make the coffee.
"I'll handle it," Seraphina said, unable to take it anymore.
Daphne was really being driven nuts by Dashiell.
Working overtime with him every day was a nightmare.
Daphne responded, "Ms. Everhart, thank you so much. I'll organize this data for Mr. Rainier."
"Go ahead," Seraphina said and made a cup of black coffee for Dashiell.
Dashiell usually relied on coffee to stay awake when he was exhausted.
Seraphina thought that one day Dashiell would probably keel over in his office chair.
She carefully pushed open the door.
Dashiell's eyes were glued to the computer, not even acknowledging her.
She placed the coffee in front of him, but just as she was about to set it down, Dashiell reached for a file beside him and accidentally knocked into Seraphina's coffee.
The coffee was scalding hot and splashed onto both Seraphina and Dashiell's hands.
Seraphina was startled and quickly let go of the coffee cup.
As soon as she let go, it spilled onto the desk, soaking Dashiell's white shirt and black pants with coffee.
Seraphina screamed and hurriedly tried to pull Dashiell's clothes.
Dashiell, enduring the pain of the burn, grabbed Seraphina's hand and exclaimed, "Stop moving!"
She was about to tear his clothes apart.
And the more she pulled, the more coffee seeped into his clothes, directly burning his skin.
"I didn't mean to," Seraphina quickly explained, feeling extremely guilty.
Dashiell ignored Seraphina as he stood up from his chair, his shirt and pants soaked and covered in coffee.
He frowned and ordered in a deep voice, "Get the cleaner to tidy up the office."After that, he turned and walked into the office's lounge, clearly to change his clothes.
Seraphina watched Dashiell's cold back, feeling a mix of emotions.
She took a deep breath.
She felt it was her fault, and Dashiell had every right to be upset.
But why was Dashiell so cold to her?
Seraphina had apologized, yet he still had a stern face.
Dashiell walked into the lounge and changed out of the soiled clothes.
After changing, he sighed heavily.
Seraphina's scent wasn't like typical perfume; it had a unique blend of milk and flowers, as though she indulged in milk baths, which oddly stirred something within him.
Thinking of this, Dashiell pressed his lips together.
It had been a busy time.
When he walked out of the lounge, he saw Seraphina carefully wiping the coffee stains off the desk.
"Where's the cleaner?" Dashiell asked.
"Just left," Seraphina replied.
Dashiell looked at her.
"Don't worry, I can clean it up," Seraphina said, sensing that Dashiell didn't trust her to handle anything.
Dashiell said, "There's no need to clean up; you can go out."
Seraphina responded, "I said I can clean it up..."
"You're delaying my work," Dashiell said, "I don't want to stay up late again tonight."
Hearing this, Seraphina was frustrated.
She really wanted to shove the cloth into Dashiell's mouth.
Why were Dashiell's words so annoying!
Seraphina left angrily, her high heels clicking on the floor, which was covered in coffee stains. Suddenly, she slipped and let out a scream—could she be any more unlucky? Just as she was about to fall, Dashiell caught her steadily, preventing her from hitting the ground.
Then she felt a warm embrace and looked up at Dashiell.
She never expected him to help her; she had always thought Dashiell would just watch with indifference, maybe even cheer.
They looked at each other.
Seraphina fell into Dashiell's arms.
At that moment, she caught a glimpse of his neck and Adam's apple, which seemed to move slightly. Suddenly, it struck her as incredibly sexy.
Seraphina's mind flashed back to the memory of her dream at the beauty salon that day, where the man had the same distinctive Adam's apple. Her fingers instinctively hovered near it, just within reach. Suddenly, she was compelled to stand upright and quickly pulled her hand away. She realized, to her surprise, that she was actually captivated by Dashiell's looks.
It must have been that dream that made her lose her senses.
"Leave," Dashiell said, "Don't come in and disturb me unless necessary."
Seraphina bit her lip.
Just a second ago, she was thinking about how to make love with Dashiell.
Yet Dashiell was only thinking about how to get rid of her.
Seraphina then turned and left without looking back at Dashiell. Had she glanced over her shoulder, she might have noticed him blushing and breathing heavily.
"Ms. Everhart!" Daphne called out to Seraphina as she suddenly came out, angry. "What happened?"
Seraphina exclaimed, "Next time, even if Dashiell is starving, don't ask me to make him coffee!"
Could Dashiell and Seraphina not go a day without arguing?
Why did it feel like a couple's quarrel?
Daphne decided not to think too much about it.
After all, Dashiell and Seraphina were divorced, and Seraphina was now very close to Sebastian.
