Chapter 729 Dashiell Returns to Everhart Bank

Seraphina was stunned for a while before she finally said, "Forget it, I'll handle it myself."

"Are you sure you can handle it well?" Cecilia asked.

"I'm sure." Seraphina nodded firmly. "I won't delay it any longer."

"Alright then." Cecilia didn't want to push Seraphina too much.

Some things, Seraphina should face on her own.

"By the way, are you still working?"

"Yes." Talking about work made Seraphina very frustrated.

She had no idea where Dashiell had gone, disappearing for almost a month. All the work at Everhart Bank had fallen on Atticus, and for some reason, Atticus insisted on having her help him with the work. She didn't understand anything, and it was simply torturous.

"I'm about to go crazy. I used to dislike Dashiell, but now I really hope he comes back soon. If this continues, my dad will have a nervous breakdown, and so will I," Seraphina complained.

"Now you realize how important Dashiell is?"

"It's not that I think he's important, it's just that with him around, I can relax a bit."

"Aren't you afraid that Dashiell will take over Everhart Bank's assets?"

"I..." Seraphina couldn't say a word.

"If you're afraid, you should learn more yourself," Cecilia sighed. "You can't rely on someone else for your entire life."

"Why do I feel like you've changed after going to Astralton City? You sound more mature, like my dad."

Cecilia smiled.

Maybe it was experiencing life and death, pain and suffering, and feeling weak and helpless that made her realize how important it is to be strong herself.

"Are you unhappy in Astralton City?" Seraphina scrutinized.

She felt that the Cecilia who came back this time seemed to have lost her emotions.

Shouldn't she be in the happiest phase of her life right now?

Alaric's career was a huge success.

Cecilia also had a cute baby in her belly.

Shouldn't she be very happy?

"No, it's just that being pregnant makes me more emotional," Cecilia said dismissively.

Seraphina didn't think much of it.

After lunch, Seraphina was called back to Everhart Bank by Atticus.

She left reluctantly but still complied.

Sometimes, Seraphina really despised herself. She said she didn't want to, but her body obeyed orders.

She should have just ignored Atticus.

She shouldn't have paid attention to Atticus.

Seraphina arrived at Everhart Bank.

The moment she opened the door, her confident posture froze. She actually saw Dashiell.

She thought he was going to disappear completely.

She pressed her lips together, trying to appear calm.

Ever since Dashiell refused to touch her after being drugged last time, they hadn't had any interaction, not even a word. And then Dashiell suddenly disappeared for so long.

Seraphina slowly walked over to Atticus, "You called me back in such a hurry, is there something urgent?"

"During work hours, shouldn't you be at Everhart Bank?" Atticus was a bit angry.

He always felt that Seraphina was too lazy.

"I went to see Cecilia. She just came back from Astralton City and is feeling unwell due to pregnancy. I went to keep her company," Seraphina explained, a bit annoyed.

Mentioning Cecilia, Seraphina felt like Dashiell glanced at her.

When she turned back, she saw Dashiell looking in another direction.

"Besides," Atticus was about to express concern for Cecilia when Seraphina's sudden momentum interrupted him, "I was only away for half a day. Dashiell has been gone for a month. Why are you only scolding me? Why don't you say something to him?"

"He had important matters to attend to," Atticus retorted. "Unlike you, whose mind isn't on work at all."

"You know my mind isn't on work, yet you still force me to come to work."

"Seraphina, do you really want me to donate the inheritance to charity?" Atticus was easily angered by Seraphina.

Seraphina pressed her lips together.

Seeing Atticus genuinely angry, Seraphina said no more.

"Now that Dashiell is back, many things will be handed over to him," Atticus took a breath. "You should also hand over some of your work to Dashiell."

What work did she have?

"Did you hear me?" Atticus's tone was serious.

Seraphina responded, "Got it."

She wondered if Atticus was going through a midlife crisis; his temper had been terrible lately.

Yelling at her had become a common occurrence.

If she didn't need this job, she wouldn't put up with this.

"Dashiell, I'll leave the work to you. It will be tough for you again," Atticus said. "For some reason, my blood pressure has been high lately and won't go down. The doctor advised me to rest more."

"Okay," Dashiell replied politely.

"Seraphina, learn more from Dashiell," Atticus reminded.

"Got it," Seraphina said impatiently. "Your health is like this, and you still have the energy to lecture me. Aren't you afraid of having a stroke or something..."

"Seraphina!"

"Alright, I won't say anymore," Seraphina surrendered.

Atticus didn't want to say more either.

Seraphina felt a bit sad.

She didn't know when it started, but she had been suppressed by Atticus.

Atticus let Seraphina and Dashiell leave.

Seraphina walked in front, and Dashiell walked a bit behind.

They walked towards the elevator together.

Seraphina paused, "When should I hand over my work to you?"

"No need," Dashiell refused directly.

Seraphina frowned.

"I know what work you have. No need for a separate handover."

Meaning, he didn't need her to say anything; he could handle it.

Yes.

Dashiell was very capable.

She angrily pressed the elevator button.

Seraphina and Dashiell entered the elevator one after the other and exited one after the other.

They didn't say another word in between.

Seraphina returned to her office.

Sebastian knocked and entered.

Seraphina steadied her emotions, suppressing her dissatisfaction.

"I heard Dashiell is back?" Sebastian asked, seemingly indifferent.

"Yes," Seraphina nodded. "I just saw him in my dad's office."

"Where has he been all this time?"

"I don't know, I didn't ask," Seraphina said indifferently. "I don't care anyway."

"True," Sebastian smiled. "By the way, what did Mr. Everhart want you to do in his office?"

"What else? He wanted me to hand over my work to Dashiell. With Dashiell gone, everything fell on my dad. Now that Dashiell is back, of course, my dad wants to give the work to Dashiell."
