Chapter 327 Dominic's Infinite Breakdown

Dominic was so angry that he smashed his phone.

Yet, the phone suddenly started ringing again.

He coldly stared at the black screen, gritted his teeth, and picked it up from the ground, pressing the screen randomly. A somewhat irritable voice came through.

"Dominic, what the hell is going on?!"

Dominic's hand holding the phone was trembling with force.

"Now Alaric's votes are skyrocketing like crazy. At this rate, do you think you still have a chance to win the election?"The person on the other end was furious, probably beyond angry!

"I had no idea Alaric would pull off such an achievement. I've been following our plan, and everything was going smoothly. Just when I thought Alaric had no chance of making a comeback, he suddenly managed to put himself in the spotlight. I never saw it coming!"

"Is it that you never saw it coming, or are you just incompetent? Dominic, I'm really disappointed in you again and again! Alaric, a good-for-nothing, someone we never even considered as a threat, has now become your biggest rival, and he's beaten you again and again! Have you ever thought about where you went wrong?"

Dominic felt humiliated by the other person's words.

Even he himself never anticipated that Alaric would become a significant obstacle in his career, hindering his progress.

He gritted his teeth, forced himself to calm down, and asked, "Can we tamper with the votes?"

"Are you crazy?!" The other person directly cursed, "If we could tamper with the votes, would I need you to fight for it? The votes are fair and just. If we're caught tampering with them, it won't just be you—I'll go down with you! Are you trying to get us both killed?"

"In this situation, I really can't think of a better way to turn the tide."

"What can you think of?!" The other person questioned him.

The disdain from the other person was evident.

Dominic suppressed his anger.

He was really irritated by Alaric once again.

Ever since Alaric got together with Cecilia, he seemed to have turned the tables.

He denied Cecilia's combat prowess and Alaric's excellence due to her.

When he couldn't marry Cecilia, it stung his pride, yet he harbored no regrets, convinced she was the one misled. He was sure she'd one day deeply regret it.

"I have an idea that can slightly salvage your image," the other person suddenly said.

Dominic gripped the phone tightly, forcing himself to stay calm, "What idea?"

"You should voluntarily withdraw from the election!" The other person said bluntly.

Dominic almost thought he had heard wrong.

He didn't react for a long time, too angry to say a word.

"If you voluntarily withdraw from the election, people will see your magnanimity. Although you failed this time, it won't damage your image too much..."

"I disagree!" Dominic protested.

From childhood to adulthood, there was nothing he wanted to do that he didn't succeed in.

Even though Cecilia publicly broke off their engagement before, it didn't really hinder his career. Later, when he and Alaric entered the political arena, his ranking dropped, but he still got in and became the most popular newcomer. Then, when he failed to frame Theodore, it was just a failed attempt that didn't affect his development.

If he voluntarily withdrew now, it would truly harm his personal interests.

After all, becoming the Chief Officer was a bigger stepping stone for his future development. If he failed now, who knew how many years he would have to wait again.

He couldn't accept that Alaric would be two ranks higher than him, which was a blatant insult to his life and would make his career path even more difficult!

Dominic's resolve stiffened at the thought. "It's not the final moment yet; no one knows who will win! Alaric and I still have a big gap in votes. I can use some extreme measures, like buying votes, to surpass Alaric in the end."

"Dominic, I could overlook your previous failures, understanding that various factors were involved and not entirely your fault. Although you were still partly responsible, I could understand that. Otherwise, I wouldn't have any hope for you. But your refusal now really disappoints me. I even think it's not that the other side is too strong, but that you're too foolish!"

Dominic was so angry that his face turned grim.

He was defending his own rights.

Was there anything wrong with not accepting this arrangement?

If he accepted, he would be admitting to the world that he was inferior to Alaric.

If he accepted, the whole world would know that Alaric was superior to him.

"Let me tell you, given the current situation, whatever you do, Alaric will definitely win the election in the end. If he doesn't win, there will be public outrage, people will sympathize with Alaric, and there will be suspicions of foul play. All your little tricks will be exposed by public opinion. Do you think you can really secure the position of Chief Officer? Moreover, from an official standpoint, Alaric has made a great contribution this time. The political arena will set him as a benchmark and will favor him more." The other person said harshly, "In such a situation, what exactly do you think you have the ability to secure the position of Chief Officer?"

Dominic's hidden rage put his entire being in a state of unparalleled hideousness.

"Dominic, you now have two choices. Either follow my arrangement, or my support for you ends here. I mean it!" The other person seemed unwilling to waste more words.

Dominic didn't want to make a decision.

But he knew very well that with his current ability, he had no choice but to comply.

He gritted his teeth and said, "I will follow your arrangement. But I think we shouldn't let Alaric get away with it!"

"What do you mean?"

Dominic told the other person what he had in mind.

The other person seemed stunned for a few seconds, then sneered, "Dominic, although your ability to get things done is lacking, your knack for causing trouble is quite impressive. I'll try to arrange what you've mentioned."

"Thank you."

"Don't disappoint me again and again, Dominic. My tolerance for you has reached its limit. You'd better take care of yourself!"

"Yes."

The other person hung up the phone.

Dominic's face was extremely grim.

He could envision the ridicule and mockery he'd face by voluntarily withdrawing from the election, parallels with Alaric drawn by many.

He thought, 'How many people will end up flattering that Alaric who has nothing?'

He clenched his teeth and resolved to endure the desperate circumstances, seizing the opportunity for survival.

He'd suffered a bitter defeat this time, but he'll make sure to repay every bit of it!
