Chapter 286 So Beautiful
"That's good." Atticus still seemed a bit down.
He thought, 'Magnolia may be somewhat upset about our divorce.
As long as Magnolia is going well, that's good.'
Dashiell could actually figure out what Atticus was thinking.
If Atticus knew that Magnolia never really liked him, he would have trouble accepting it.
So Seraphina forced Magnolia to divorce Atticus.
It really only affected Atticus; Magnolia didn't care that much.
"Let's go, I'll introduce you to some friends in the business . If you're interested in joining the House of Everhart Bank, I can pave the way for you."
Dashiell replied, "No, I don't plan to join the House of Everhart Bank for now, but I think Seraphina should consider it. After all, giving Sebastian too much power to manage the House of Everhart Bank isn't a very wise decision."
"I know." Atticus nodded, "But Seraphina has no interest in managing the company, and I can't force her."
Dashiell responded, "Let me see what I can do."
"Okay." Atticus quickly agreed, "It would be great if Seraphina could join the company. Such a big family business should ultimately be left to Seraphina."
Dashiell nodded.
Seraphina had actually seen them from afar.
She deliberately avoided them, not wanting to appear in front of them.
Seeing Atticus and Dashiell getting along so well, she was really annoyed.
They were the two men she hated most in the world.
She thought, 'Indeed, birds of a feather flock together.'
She glanced around.
Even though she had said some extreme things earlier, after she really left, she couldn't help but have some expectations for Sebastian.
She saw Sebastian standing in a corner.
He wasn't really interacting with anyone.
She thought, 'That is just how he is, not very good at handling business social events.
'Probably he still has low self-esteem.'
Seraphina felt a strange softness in her heart.
Back then, she had brought Sebastian into the House of Everhart Bank, thinking that the Everhart family's business shouldn't fall into Magnolia's hands. She had Sebastian fast-tracked to House of Everhart Bank, taking over House of Everhart Bank early, and she never expected that she wouldn't end up with Sebastian.
She even wondered' Is Sebastian's current situation in the House of Everhart Bank awkward?
'Will he be ridiculed?'
The more she thought about it, the more upset she felt.
The more she thought about it, the more she wanted to get closer to Sebastian, but she couldn't get close to him.
Given their current relationship, it wouldn't make any difference if she got close.
It would only add to the sadness.
She turned and walked towards Cecilia.
At that moment, Cecilia was linked arm in arm with Alaric.
They were the epitome of a power couple, the center of attention in the room. No matter how far away you stood, their radiant presence was impossible to miss.
"Cecilia." Seraphina called out.
Cecilia glanced at Seraphina, whispered something to Alaric, then released his arm and walked over to Seraphina.
Alaric, unfazed, continued to mingle with the guests.
"I want to leave," Seraphina said directly.
"You're leaving so soon?" Cecilia asked, surprised.
"There's no point in staying," Seraphina replied with evident disinterest.
Understanding the monotony of these social functions, Cecilia nodded. "Alright, why don't you and Dashiell head out?"
"I'd rather leave alone…" Seraphina hesitated under Cecilia's gaze, finally giving in. "Fine."
Cecilia smiled warmly. "Drive safely."
Seraphina left immediately.
She made her way to Dashiell, helping him out of the banquet hall.
As Cecilia watched Seraphina and Dashiell depart, she didn't go straight back to Alaric. Instead, she headed to the restroom to touch up her makeup.
Pulling out her foundation, she lightly dabbed it onto her face.
As she was finishing up, she saw Juliana emerge from the restroom.
Juliana's surprise was evident upon seeing Cecilia. But in the next moment, she adopted a friendly, almost ingratiating tone. "Cousin Cecilia."
Cecilia cast a scrutinizing glance at Juliana. "How's Ophelia?"
Juliana didn't expect Cecilia to jump straight to Ophelia.
"Ophelia's not in the best of moods," Juliana said honestly.
She left out the part where Ophelia, after being publicly humiliated yesterday, had returned home and smashed everything in sight. Ophelia was truly furious.
"Are you still living with them?" Cecilia asked.
"Vivienne's been pretty good to me. Even though Vincent's in prison, she's still taken me in."
Cecilia snorted.
She thought, 'Juliana is playing the part well. Vivienne taking her in is more about appearances. Without Vincent around, Juliana's life at Vivienne's is far from pleasant.'
"Think carefully about your future path," Cecilia said cryptically.
She left it at that, giving Juliana something to ponder.
Juliana feigned innocence, playing dumb.
"Once you've figured it out, let me know," Cecilia said with a smile.
Cecilia's meaning was clear.
Juliana understood exactly what Cecilia was implying.
Of course, she hadn't hesitated at all. Juliana knew very well that with Vincent in prison, she would never have a good day again in front of Ophelia, Vivienne, and Andrew. Her only choice was to leave them, but if she did, she would be left with nothing, which she wasn't willing to accept. However, if she immediately tried to ingratiate herself with Cecilia, Juliana feared that Cecilia would think her too opportunistic, ruining the kind image she had worked so hard to cultivate. So, she had to endure the torment of Ophelia, Vivienne, and Andrew for the time being.
Cecilia understood Juliana's concerns.
In fact, no matter how Juliana behaved, Cecilia could never really trust her.
She was fully aware of how arrogant and ruthless Juliana had been in her previous life.
Cecilia was deliberately trying to win over Juliana because Juliana still had some value that could be exploited.
And, she wanted to take revenge for the deep hatred from her previous life!
Cecilia put the foundation into her elegant little bag and walked out.
As for Juliana, she would eventually fall into the trap without Cecilia having to put much thought into it.
The banquet continued until midnight.
Finally, the guests began to leave.
Cecilia rubbed her shoulders, feeling exhausted. She relaxed her body and let go of maintaining her image.
Clearly, Theodore and Genevieve were tired as well.
At that moment, they expressed concern, "Alaric and Cecilia must be exhausted today."
"I'm fine," Alaric quickly responded.
"I'm alright too. You two should go back and rest early," Cecilia urged.
After all, the car was already waiting for them.
"Who says we're too old?" Theodore teased, pretending to scold.
Cecilia smiled, "Yes, you're so young that you could even give me younger siblings."
"Cecilia," Genevieve blushed visibly at Cecilia's tease.
"It's getting late. You should hurry back and get some sleep," Cecilia urged again.
She was really worried that they might be too tired.
Theodore didn't refuse further. "You should also head back early and don't stay up late, especially you, Cecilia..."
"I know. Just take care of Mommy. I have Alaric to take care of me. Don't worry about me," Cecilia said.
Theodore was speechless but still relented, holding Genevieve's hand as they got into the car first.
Cecilia watched as Theodore and Genevieve held hands.
She thought, 'Thank goodness for being reborn.
'Otherwise, how can I have witnessed such a beautiful moment between Dad and Mom!'
