Chapter 154 The Petty Alaric
After Alaric got out of the hospital, he headed straight to his villa.
The Whitaker family made sure Alaric got to his room before leaving.
As they left, Arabella gave George a bunch of instructions, mostly about taking care of Alaric.
Arabella's instructions took a while.
Caspian waited for her.
Jasper did too.
Cecilia, as the villa's "host," had to see them off before heading back to her room, so she stood with them.
"Cecilia," Jasper called out suddenly.
Cecilia turned to look at him.
Jasper gave her a look, and they walked to a corner.
Cecilia was surprised Jasper wanted to talk; he clearly had something on his mind.
"What's up?" Cecilia asked.
"Did Rebecca visit Alaric at the hospital?" Jasper asked.
Cecilia pursed her lips.
Everyone knew Jasper liked Rebecca.
But it was also clear Rebecca didn't like Jasper.
"She did, didn't she?" Jasper's tone was questioning but sure.
"She came just before you all arrived," Cecilia said.
"Did she do anything?" Jasper asked.
"She didn't get the chance," Cecilia replied, unsure if Jasper understood.
She wondered if she hadn't stopped Rebecca and Alaric, would something have happened?
"Keep an eye on Rebecca," Jasper suddenly said.
Cecilia frowned.
She thought Jasper would defend Rebecca, especially since Rebecca was trying to mess with her relationship with Alaric.
As Rebecca's ex who once loved her, it would be normal for Jasper to say something nice about her.
But he was warning her to be cautious of Rebecca.
Jasper saw her confusion and said, "Rebecca is ambitious. If she can't have something, no one else can. She might do extreme things to you. Be prepared."
"What exactly is your relationship with Rebecca?" Cecilia asked.
"I like Rebecca, but she doesn't like me," Jasper replied.
"So, since you like her, shouldn't you be more concerned about her?" Cecilia asked.
"Warning you to be cautious of her is the best way to protect her," Jasper said bluntly.
Cecilia didn't get it.
Jasper didn't explain further. "Anyway, be careful," he said.
Cecilia wanted to ask more, but Arabella had finished her instructions.
Jasper didn't wait and walked over.
Cecilia quickly followed, politely seeing them out. After they got in the car, she went back to the hall.
In the hall, George was making some nutritious soup.
It was obviously for Alaric.
Cecilia didn't disturb him and went straight upstairs to her room.
She opened the door, but Alaric wasn't there.
To avoid suspicion from Alaric's parents about their fake marriage, she had asked him to go to her room first. She planned to help him back to his own room, but he was gone.
Did he go back on his own?
Cecilia turned to check his room.
She suddenly heard water running in the bathroom.
Cecilia paused.
She quickly opened the bathroom door.
And saw a naked body.
She managed not to scream.
Cecilia quickly turned her back on Alaric.
"Alaric, didn't the doctor say no baths?" she said, exasperated.
Alaric ignored her. He hadn't spoken to her since their argument that morning. Clearly, he was holding a grudge.
"Alaric!" Cecilia called louder.
Still, he ignored her.
Frustrated, she turned off the shower. Alaric was just getting wet, not fully soaked.
They locked eyes. Cecilia kept her gaze on his face, avoiding looking elsewhere.
"You can't take a bath," she insisted.
"Why do you care?" Alaric's voice was cold and sarcastic. "You told me to stay away, so why do you care now?"
"Can you stop being sarcastic?" Cecilia snapped.
"Isn't this what you wanted?" Alaric shot back.
Cecilia didn't want to argue. She reached for his arm to help him out.
Alaric dodged her touch easily.
"Ms. Lockhart, we're not really married, so don't touch me," he said seriously.
Cecilia wanted to punch him. She took a deep breath. "What do you want?"
"A bath."
"Anything but a bath," she said firmly.
Alaric stared at her.
"If you don't take a bath, I'll agree to one thing," Cecilia offered, her tone softer. She was negotiating.
After all, his injury was her fault. She had to take responsibility.
"Sleep in the same bed with me," Alaric said bluntly.
Cecilia felt like hitting him. 'Is his mind only on sex?'
"I'm not in a convenient state. If I need to get up at night, I need your help. I can't sleep alone," Alaric explained.
Cecilia blinked. 'So he just needs help, not sex?'
"Of course not," Alaric read her mind. "In my current state, unless I want to die."
'So, you do know you're currently disabled!'
"And," Alaric continued, looking at her.
Even bandaged, he seemed threatening.
"I'm waiting for you to throw yourself into my arms."
"Impossible," Cecilia said firmly. She would never initiate sex with him.
She had no interest in sex and even had a phobia of it. Even when she loved Dominic, she didn't enjoy it.
So, it wasn't about whether she would fall for him or not, it was just she was extremely repulsed by the idea. Thinking about her past with Dominic, she didn't want to go through it again.
She would never take the initiative!
"We'll see," Alaric said confidently.
