Chapter 591 The Previous Life

Cecilia talked like she was telling someone else's story, totally flat and emotionless.

She watched Dominic's face change without a care and said, "In my past life, I gave up everything for you, no regrets. I dimmed my own light, became your quiet little wife, helped you climb the ranks, and fought Alaric for you."

She paused, then continued, "You know what? Alaric was already amazing back then, had nothing to do with me. Honestly, no matter how hard you tried, you never beat Alaric. And in the end, I died, stabbed by you. Do you remember what you said when you did it?"

Dominic's fists clenched tight.

He stared at Cecilia, thinking she was just making stuff up to mess with him.

But deep down, a little voice told him it all felt too real.

"You said, 'Cecilia, I don't love you, I'm sick of you! Lyra is a hundred times more exciting than you!'" Cecilia's voice was ice cold.

Cecilia thought she'd forgotten all the crap she went through in her past life.

After all, one cannot live in the past.

But as she spoke, she realized she remembered every bit of it.

The hate was still so strong.

"You also told me the reason I didn't get pregnant in ten years was 'cause you were slipping birth control pills into my food. And I, thinking I was the problem, got tortured by Nathaniel, Octavia, and Penelope for ten years. I went through hell, thinking it was all unintentional, thinking you really loved me." Cecilia laughed.

She kept laughing.

No matter how much hate she had, she kept that smile.

No one could see through her.

Honestly, why shouldn't Cecilia laugh?

Now she had Dominic under her heel, now she had her revenge, why not laugh and mock the defeated Dominic?

"Later, you took over the Lockhart Group, and I was useless. That's when I realized everything I did for you was a joke. I died by your hand. I can still see your face when you killed me, so cold and heartless." Cecilia recalled Dominic's expression at that time.

The more arrogant Dominic was back then, the more pathetic he looked now.

Dominic's face turned ice cold under Cecilia's stare.

He didn't want to believe a word she said.

He told himself Cecilia was just trying to mess with his head, make him lose it.

But everything she said matched his original plan for her.

Pretend to love her, marry her, use her feelings to take over the Lockhart Group. Once he had control, he'd have the power to join the noble family.

He had been secretly working with Lyra and planned to kill Cecilia once he succeeded. Only by killing her could he feel it was fair after all those years of pretending.

Thinking about it, Dominic's emotions started to spiral.

Cecilia stayed cool as a cucumber.

She went on, "The crazy part is, after you killed me, I got a second chance. I was reborn, ten years back, before I married you. That's why I suddenly married Alaric, the guy you could never beat."

"At first, I thought marrying Alaric was just a strategic move against you, a win-win deal. But guess what? I found real love! I should thank you, if it weren't for your cruelty, I wouldn't have found true love. Loving Alaric made me see how different he is from you, and what it feels like to be genuinely cherished."

When Cecilia mentioned Alaric, her smile turned sweet, unlike the cold smile she had for Dominic.

Dominic felt a sudden, weird pain in his chest.

He'd felt this pain many times with Cecilia.

Each time, he pushed through it.

Each time, he lied to himself, pretending he didn't know.

His eyes were getting redder and redder.

Cecilia didn't care and continued, "I think you know what happened next. On our wedding day, the video of you cheating with Isadora? Yeah, that was me. Living ten more years gave me all your dirty secrets, so it was easy to trap you. Then, in the business competition, I set traps for you, making you fall step by step, until you finally lost to me. Oh, and by the way."

Cecilia took a breath and said, "I was the one who caused Lyra's miscarriage."

Dominic's whole body went cold.

His final downfall was because of that miscarriage.

If it hadn't happened, he wouldn't be in this mess with Lyra.

At least he would've given her ten years of peace, like he did with Cecilia.

Dominic bit his lip hard.

He had to admit, he actually believed Cecilia's story about her past life.

"In the past life, you didn't let me get pregnant, so in this life, you don't deserve to be a father either. You don't deserve it!" Cecilia said calmly.

She was just giving him a taste of his own medicine.

When she asked Cassius to do it, he was shocked.

He probably thought Cecilia wasn't that ruthless.

But Cecilia felt no guilt.

Even now, she felt none.

This was just Dominic's karma.

"I also saved Lyra. I know your tricks too well. Any woman who falls into your hands will end up like me. So once you and Lyra broke up, your good days were over." Cecilia was spelling out the reasons for Dominic's downfall.

Ripping open Dominic's wounds over and over.

"Sure enough, Lyra publicly accused you, you lost the Monroe family's support, and now you're in this pathetic state!"

"Enough!" Dominic had been clenching his fists.

He didn't want to hear anymore.

He couldn't take another word.

He ended up like this because he wasn't as good, because he never beat Cecilia.

He admitted it.

His tightly wound emotions were starting to unravel.

Cecilia stayed cool, observing Dominic's emotional turmoil as if she were merely watching a stranger.

"One more thing," Cecilia said. "The Monroe family came to me for a partnership. I'm going to help Alaric reach heights you could only dream of! Twenty years in prison will give you plenty of time to watch it happen!"
