Chapter 214 Kissing Alaric
Cecilia didn't want to argue with Seraphina.
"I left the clothes here. Hurry up with your shower so I can take mine," she said.
"Why don't you shower in your own room? Why come here?" Seraphina asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I'm sleeping with you tonight."
"Won't that mess things up with your husband?"
"Don't worry, you're not that irresistible," Cecilia chuckled.
Seraphina went quiet and quickly finished her shower. Cecilia did the same.
They shared a bed, something Cecilia hadn't done in ages. Before she married Dominic, they often slept together. Since then, Cecilia felt she'd neglected Seraphina.
Back then, all her thoughts were on Dominic. Whenever she thought about it, she got annoyed.
"Cecilia," Seraphina suddenly buried her head in Cecilia's embrace.
Cecilia was used to Seraphina's clinginess. Seraphina always said Cecilia had a motherly warmth.
"Do you think Dashiell might not be that bad?" Seraphina asked.
She probably couldn't believe Dashiell's sudden change either.
"Maybe he just needs time. In a few days, he might understand and stop forcing me to marry him," Seraphina mused.
Cecilia didn't tell her the truth. She knew Seraphina would marry Dashiell.
"Get some sleep. We'll deal with it tomorrow."
"I can't sleep. Thinking about Dashiell keeps me awake," Seraphina said, feeling desperate.
"Then I'm going to sleep."
"How can you be like this?" Seraphina felt hurt.
"Should I tell you to accept Dashiell?"
"Just go to sleep," Seraphina turned over, her back to Cecilia.
Cecilia smiled, watching Seraphina's outline in the moonlight. In her past life, she saw Seraphina die horribly. This time, she wouldn't let that happen.
The next day, the alarm went off. Cecilia quickly turned it off and carefully got out of bed. Seraphina was sleeping soundly. She had a lot on her mind last night and took a while to fall asleep. Cecilia hadn't slept much either. By the time they both fell asleep, it was almost dawn.
Cecilia tiptoed out, not wanting to wake Seraphina. She needed rest after last night's ordeal.
Cecilia walked into the master bedroom. Alaric was still asleep. She gingerly went to the bathroom to wash up, then changed into formal wear and put on light makeup. As she was about to leave, a voice startled her. "I thought you'd at least kiss me goodbye."
When did Alaric wake up? She turned to him.
"Last night you left me alone and I couldn't sleep. Don't you feel guilty..." Alaric's voice trailed off as Cecilia rushed over and kissed him to shut him up.
Alaric really talked too much. The best way to silence him was a kiss.
After kissing him, Cecilia hurriedly left. Alaric watched her go, licking his lips. Cecilia quickly returned, having forgotten her bag.
When she turned around, she saw Alaric grinning mischievously.
Cecilia didn't blush when she kissed Alaric, but now she did. She quickly grabbed her bag and rushed out of the room, her heart still racing. It took her a while to calm down before heading downstairs.
Downstairs, George looked surprised. "Mrs. Whitaker, you came back late last night and got up so early."
"There are some things at the company I need to handle," Cecilia said, still sounding tired. "By the way, my friend is staying here today. She usually wakes up around noon. Don't disturb her. When she wakes up, tell her not to leave. I'll be back after work. Also, she likes her food a bit heavy, especially Mexican, so make some for her at lunchtime."
"Yes, ma'am," George replied respectfully.
Cecilia didn't say much more. After breakfast, she took Augustus's car to the company. Yesterday was the first day of the Tower of Light's opening, and there were still many things to handle.
She walked into the office, and Rose followed her. "Mrs. Whitaker, this is the sales report for the Tower of Light from yesterday."
Cecilia took the report. Rose continued, "We had over 18,000 visitors yesterday with a 30% turnover rate. The first day's sales totaled $8.2 million, more than the total visitor count and sales since the Tower of Light's construction and opening."
Cecilia listened while checking the report. "How much did Lily's online sales amount to?"
"Only $200,000."
"Given the current level of e-commerce development, that's not bad."
"Yes," Rose confirmed. "It's the highest single-day sales on all e-commerce platforms in the Yakurosean Empire, even surpassing the Kingsley Group's Little Dog platform. It's all over the news."
Cecilia nodded, placing the sales report aside. "In half an hour, the sales department meets to organize the next work plan."
"Got it," Rose said respectfully before leaving.
Cecilia turned to her computer to organize her tasks. She was halfway through when the phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and answered, "Mr. Chairman."
"Come to the executive meeting room," Theodore said, sounding in a good mood.
"Alright," Cecilia replied, anticipating praise. Business was all about performance. She left her office and thought for a moment before heading to Juliana's office next door.
"Juliana," Cecilia called.
Juliana was startled, not expecting Cecilia to suddenly appear. She felt guilty, having been looking at news on her phone instead of working.
"Come with me to the executive meeting room," Cecilia said, pretending not to notice Juliana's guilt.
Juliana was surprised but quickly composed herself. "Alright," she said, following Cecilia out.
She didn't dare ask why Cecilia was taking her along. Cecilia, of course, wouldn't tell her she was doing it to sow discord. Cecilia's current success must be devastating to Vincent, and having his daughter, Juliana, help her would only make it worse. He must be furious!
