Chapter 341 A Night of Romantic Surprises
Cecilia left work on time because she had a date with Alaric.
Alaric was leaving Serenovia City tomorrow.
She was actually quite reluctant.
Cecilia sat in Augustus' car, looking at the streets outside Serenovia City, and murmured, "Augustus, will Cassius go with Alaric to Harborvale?"
"Mr. Blackburn?" Augustus was taken aback, then shook his head, "I haven't heard anything about that."
"Will you go?"
"No." Augustus gave a definite answer, "Mr. Whitaker only asked me to protect you. I won't go anywhere except by your side."
"Is Alaric going alone?" Cecilia asked.
She was always afraid he might be in danger.
"Mrs. Whitaker, you don't need to worry. If it's something Mr. Whitaker has thought through, it must be something he's fully confident about. Mr. Whitaker has never failed in anything he does." Augustus had a very high opinion of Alaric.
Cecilia nodded slightly and agreed.
She hadn't had much contact with Alaric before. Even though they were arch-enemies in her previous life, her understanding of him was very superficial. Getting to know him better, she discovered his incredible strength beyond her expectation.
The car stopped at the villa, and the moment she got out, Cecilia's heart inexplicably skipped a beat.
Even though they met every day, the thought of seeing Alaric made her nervous.
She took a deep breath and walked into the villa's hall.
She didn't see Alaric.
Cecilia frowned slightly.
George was a bit surprised to see Cecilia come back so early and quickly approached her, "Mrs. Whitaker you're home early tonight?"
"Hasn't Alaric come back yet?" Cecilia asked.
"Mr. Whitaker hasn't returned yet," George quickly replied.
Cecilia looked at her watch.
Thinking that Alaric got off work half an hour later than she did, she didn't feel too emotional about it.
She put down her bag and sat in the living room watching TV, waiting for Alaric.
She had already watched two episodes of the TV series.
Cecilia looked at the sky outside.
It was reasonable to think that if he got off work at 6:00, he should be back by now at 7:00, even if he was stuck in rush hour traffic.
But Alaric still hadn't come home.
She gritted her teeth but didn't call Alaric, choosing to continue waiting.
Another hour passed, and Cecilia was really getting a bit agitated.
So this was what Alaric meant by no social engagements.
No social engagements, and it was 8 pm, and he was still not home?
Cecilia thought, 'Alaric, you are a liar!'
Cecilia, enraged, stood, snatched her bag, and stormed upstairs, too furious to consider dinner.
"Mrs. Whitaker," George called out to her, seeing her actions.
"I'm not feeling well, so I won't be eating tonight. When Alaric comes back, tell him to sleep in the next room. I need to rest," she said, leaving a message.
Cecilia then walked upstairs.
Just as she reached the stairs, the entire hall suddenly went dark.
Cecilia's instinctive reaction was that the power had gone out.
As she reached for her phone to turn on the flashlight, a soft light illuminated the hall from candles.
And in the light, a familiar silhouette was smiling at her tenderly.
Cecilia's heart started to race.
Cecilia thought, 'So what trick is Alaric playing now?'
He said he wasn't back, but here he was in the hall.
In the hall, not saying a word, just holding a cake with lit candles, looking at her.
Today wasn't February 2nd or August 8th.
It wasn't anyone's birthday.
She thought, 'Is Alaric a man who can't create surprises, so he just copied one from the internet?'
She just looked at Alaric.
Cecilia was clearly disdainful, but as he walked step by step towards her, she still got nervous.
Her heart inexplicably started to race.
Alaric's gaze really made people involuntarily nervous, excited, and thrilled.
Cecilia unconsciously bit her lip lightly.
Alaric stood in front of her, looking down.
He was holding the cake.
The candles were still burning.
The two of them looked at each other tenderly in the candlelight.
She had to admit that she was falling for him.
Cecilia was merely being swayed by Alaric.
She said, "Are you celebrating the imminent birth of Mrs. Whitaker?"
Alaric seemed to take a second to react.
The next second, he laughed.
After figuring it out, he laughed quite exaggeratedly.
But it didn't affect his looks at all.
Good-looking people looked good even when they frowned, let alone when Alaric smiled like a blooming flower.
He said, "Yes."
Cecilia was speechless after Alaric's affirmative reply.
She looked at the cake in front of her, at the red candles, and said, "Am I supposed to blow out the candles?"
"Make a wish first," Alaric said.
Cecilia frowned.
She thought, 'Alaric is really addicted to acting.'
"Make a wish for me," Alaric suddenly added.
Cecilia was a bit puzzled.
"I've already thought of the wish," Alaric said seriously, word by word, "I wish for us to have a child soon."
Damn!
She knew Alaric was setting her up.
Cecilia closed her eyes.
She clasped her hands together and really made a wish.
After making the wish, Cecilia's face turned red.
Alaric watched Cecilia's expression closely.
The deep affection in his eyes was unmistakable.
"Alright," Cecilia said after making her wish, smiling at Alaric.
Alaric also smiled gently.
He said, "Blow out the candles."
Cecilia took a deep breath and then blew out all the candles forcefully.
The room suddenly became pitch dark.
The villa was in a relatively quiet suburb, and without the lights, there was really no light at all.
She even couldn't see her hands.
"Alaric, turn on the lights," Cecilia called out to him.
She didn't like the dark.
She didn't like not being able to see him.
"Cecilia," Alaric suddenly called her.
His voice was low and magnetic.
He seemed to carry a hint of seriousness.
Cecilia bit her lip lightly, trying to discern his direction from his silhouette.
"Do you regret it?" Alaric asked her.
"If I say I regret it, will you let me go?"
"No."
"Then I don't regret it."
He wouldn't let her go, and she wouldn't regret it.
If God played a huge joke on her again like in her previous life, she would accept it.
Cecilia suddenly screamed, because she was suddenly lifted up by someone.
She clung tightly to Alaric's neck.
She thought, 'Why couldn't I see anything, but he could so accurately pick me up?'
The next second, she even felt Alaric carrying her upstairs.
"What about the cake?" Cecilia was clearly still a bit regretful.
"Do you want to eat it?" Alaric asked.
She thought, 'Of course.
She had made a wish and blown out the candles.
Wasn't she just waiting to eat the cake?'
"No rush," Alaric seemed to guess her thoughts, "We'll eat it when we're hungrier."
"I'm hungry now."
"You'll be hungrier later."
Alaric carried Cecilia back to the room.
The room lights turned on, Alaric pressed Cecilia onto the bed.
The soft mattress bore their weight, sinking down.
