Chapter 212 Dashiell's "Despicable"
In the hospital room, Dashiell's words left everyone speechless.
No one expected someone as stoic as Dashiell to say something so shocking.
"Dashiell, Seraphina didn't mean it. Isn't it a bit low to make things hard for her?" Sebastian said, looking grim.
Dashiell stared at Sebastian, unfazed. "Didn't you take Seraphina from me back then?"
"That's nonsense! Seraphina and I love each other. You were just imagining things," Sebastian snapped, clearly angry.
"No..." Dashiell began.
"Yes, I have no feelings for you! I told you tonight, Dashiell, I don't like you at all. Why do you have to force me? Why do you have to do such awful things?" Seraphina, supporting Sebastian, almost broke down.
Dashiell's eyes dropped, sadness evident.
He usually compromised, no matter how tough things got. He never forced anyone.
But then he smiled indifferently and said, "I've lost my right leg now, Seraphina. Shouldn't you compensate me?"
"Seraphina didn't mean it. If you hadn't argued with her tonight, she wouldn't have pushed you. You bear some responsibility too. Why should Seraphina be held accountable, especially like this?" Sebastian shot back.
"Because I like her, and I don't want her to marry you," Dashiell said.
"I won't agree to it," Seraphina said coldly, glaring at Dashiell.
Her pity, sympathy, and pain had turned into cold hatred.
She used to dislike Dashiell because of his status. She hated being compared to him.
But now, she truly hated him.
"I'll do anything, even lose a leg, but I will never marry you! Never!" Seraphina almost screamed, on the verge of collapse.
Dashiell just watched her, seeing the pain in her eyes.
It hurt because she felt threatened by him.
He looked away and quietly said, "Tonight, you pushed me onto the road, knowing a car would come, causing my accident and disability. I will call the police."
Seraphina laughed, as if hearing the funniest joke ever.
Dashiell even wanted to threaten her with jail.
"Can you stop being so despicable, Dashiell?" she said, tears of anger welling up.
Dashiell's throat moved slightly. He chose to remain silent.
Everyone was silent, including Cecilia.
She just looked at Dashiell. She used to think he was despicable, no longer the kind boy she once knew. Because of his actions, she and Seraphina distanced themselves from him and hated him. It wasn't until she was reborn that she truly understood why Dashiell chose such a despised way.
That's when her heart truly ached for Seraphina.
"Call the police then," Seraphina said, unfazed. "Yes, I pushed you and made you disabled. Let the police come and arrest me. I'll serve many years in prison, and I might even face execution. But I will never marry you, even if I die!"
She wasn't just angry; she meant it. If Dashiell wanted revenge, she'd accept it. But marry him? She'd rather die.
"Seraphina!" Atticus couldn't take it anymore. "We're all family. Let's talk it out..."
"Family? With him? With you?" Seraphina shouted at Atticus. "We've never been family. Since you married Magnolia, we haven't been family. I've never considered you all as family! To me, Magnolia is a bitch, and Dashiell is the bastard she gave birth to..."
"Enough!" Atticus shouted, his face turned red with anger.
"I've had enough too!" Seraphina yelled back, not afraid. "I've had enough of living under the same roof with you all. I've had enough of seeing them every day..."
Atticus slapped Seraphina hard across the face, clearly furious.
Seraphina covered her face, and Sebastian rushed to hold her.
Seraphina's eyes welled up with tears as she complained, "You've finally shown your true colors, haven't you? You abandoned my mom for them, and now you're abandoning me too, right?"
"Your mom and I divorced peacefully. I haven't abandoned you. I just hope you can show some respect to Magnolia. How poorly has she treated you over the years?" Atticus's voice trembled with anger.
"When my mom was dying, begging you to see her one last time, why didn't you come? Now you talk about an amicable divorce? If you hadn't fallen for Magnolia, would my mom and you have ended up divorced? Asking me to respect her is worse than asking me to respect a dog!"
Atticus, enraged, raised his hand again. Seraphina didn't flinch, but Sebastian held her tightly.
"I don't need your respect either," Magnolia suddenly spoke.
Seraphina looked at her coldly.
"Over the years, I've done what I should, given what I should. I owe you nothing. If you don't accept me, I won't force it," Magnolia said calmly.
Seraphina's face was full of sarcasm.
"It doesn't matter what happened before. Now, the only thing that matters to me is Dashiell," Magnolia said, her voice intense. "I'll give him whatever he wants now."
"Who do you think you are?" Seraphina sneered.
If they wanted it, she must give it to them?'
How ridiculous!
