Chapter 198 Rebecca's Despair
The guy got dragged away.
Alaric held Cecilia and headed for the warehouse door.
From start to finish, Alaric never glanced at Rebecca.
He wasn't shocked. It seemed like he expected it and knew Rebecca was behind it all.
He didn't take harsh revenge on Rebecca either, just like she told Cecilia he wouldn't.
Cecilia clung tightly to Alaric's neck. She didn't want to dig deeper. Whatever went down between Alaric and Rebecca, whatever promises they made, that was their business. She had no right to interfere.
She was just grateful Alaric saved her. She didn't want to push her luck.
More importantly, she didn't want Alaric to kill more people.
Alaric suddenly paused while holding Cecilia.
Rebecca's hysterical scream came from behind, "Alaric, are you really going this far for Cecilia?"
Cecilia was startled. She didn't get what Rebecca meant.
When she turned her head, she saw men walking towards Rebecca.
Even though nothing had happened yet, Cecilia could guess what Alaric intended for Rebecca.
Compared to killing her, letting her face gang-rape was worse than death.
"Alaric, you might as well kill me!" Rebecca's eyes were bloodshot as she looked at Alaric, holding Cecilia protectively and lovingly.
She thought Alaric's life was all about his mission, but for Cecilia, he would abandon everything.
Was she still fooling herself into thinking Alaric didn't love Cecilia?
Rebecca's tears fell uncontrollably, "Kill me, so I won't have to feel sad for you and endure your indifference anymore! You don't know how much pain I've felt for you all these years, how much my heart has hurt for you!"
Alaric's cold face showed no emotion, even though Rebecca cried her heart out.
Cecilia saw no reaction from Alaric. How cold-blooded must he be to stay indifferent?
She really couldn't tell what kind of person Alaric was anymore.
"You think I treated Cecilia this way just to kill her? Yes, I wanted to kill her because she made me feel she was different in your heart, and I couldn't accept any woman by your side, even if it wasn't me! More importantly, I was fed up with your indifference and your apathy towards me! Even if you killed me, at least I would die by your hand, and at least for a moment, you would remember me, who loved you as her life!"
"I won't." Alaric's cold voice starkly contrasted with Rebecca's hysteria.
His face showed no emotion. His cold voice told Rebecca, "Killing you is the same as killing anyone else. It won't cause me any emotional fluctuation, and I certainly won't remember you."
"Then why don't you kill me?" Rebecca asked frantically.
"Because of Jasper," Alaric replied.
This might truly make Rebecca feel despair. She could act recklessly in front of Alaric, not because he cared, but because of Jasper.
Rebecca laughed coldly and sarcastically. "Alaric, did you really never love me? Not even..."
"Not even for a moment," Alaric interrupted.
"Then why did you sleep with me? Why did you let me carry your child?" Rebecca demanded.
"The person who slept with you was never me."
Rebecca was stunned, frozen in place. She clearly remembered that night when Alaric was drugged and had sex with her. She refused to believe he couldn't control himself. She believed he loved her.
All her beliefs collapsed in that moment. She stood there like an empty shell.
"Are you done?" Alaric's coldness was terrifying.
Rebecca's tears kept falling. She couldn't say a word. It was all in her head, all self-deception. Her pride, her sense of superiority, all shattered.
She laughed and cried. "Alaric, you're so cruel. Aren't you afraid of going to hell?"
"That's my business, not yours," Alaric said coldly. He could really break the heart of a woman who loved him.
Rebecca watched Alaric's departing figure through tear-blurred eyes. She saw him holding Cecilia, walking away coldly and heartlessly.
She shouted, "Alaric, a bloodthirsty man like you will one day be abandoned by a woman, just like you abandoned me!"
Alaric's steps paused while holding Cecilia. Cecilia saw his Adam's apple move up and down. He clearly had some emotional reaction.
"Alaric, Cecilia doesn't love you at all!" Rebecca shouted.
Cecilia's heart skipped a beat.
"Cecilia slept with other men to stay alive! Do you think I haven't killed her because I'm afraid? No, it's because she did everything she could to stay alive! She even asked men to rape her to prove she didn't love you!" Rebecca said frantically. "Alaric, a woman like that, what makes her worthy of your love? Do you think she'll really love you? Don't you think everything you're doing for her is sad?"
Alaric's eyes moved slightly. Cecilia's hands around his neck tightened. She bit her lip hard. She didn't know how to explain. The fact that she was still alive was because she had used her body to trade for it, even though she hadn't been raped.
