Chapter 411 Dashiell Reveals His Relationship with Alaric

After Cecilia and Dashiell wrapped up their chat, she got up to bounce.

She paused for a sec and then blurted out, "Dashiell, can you keep this on the down-low?"

Dashiell looked a bit thrown off.

"I mean, my whole reincarnation thing. I'm scared people will think I'm a total weirdo, and even more freaked out that scientists might wanna turn me into a lab rat."

Dashiell couldn't help but chuckle.

"Alright, I won't spill," he said.

"Not even to Alaric," Cecilia added, dead serious.

She didn't want Alaric judging her.

Their past life history was a mess, after all.

"Okay," Cecilia nodded.

"Dashiell, is there more to your thing with Alaric than you're letting on? Feels like there's some deep stuff going on, way beyond what I see between me, Seraphina, and you," Cecilia suddenly asked, her tone all serious.

Dashiell went quiet.

"It's cool, you don't have to say anything," Cecilia smiled a bit.

If Alaric didn't wanna talk, she couldn't make Dashiell spill the beans.

"Alaric's my cousin," Dashiell suddenly said.

Cecilia was floored.

She never saw that coming.

"Blood-related?" Cecilia asked.

"Yeah, but I can't say much more," Dashiell said. "Alaric will fill you in."

"You sure?" Cecilia asked.

"Actually, Alaric's been into you for a while," Dashiell said straight up.

Cecilia frowned.

"I won't ruin the surprises, or there won't be any fun in your future run-ins," Dashiell said.

"Surprises? More like shocks," Cecilia said, rolling her eyes.

What was Alaric hiding?

"Chill, Alaric won't freak you out," Dashiell said with a grin.

Cecilia thought Dashiell's words were so corny.

"Anyway, picking Alaric is the right move. At least he'd never stab you," Dashiell chuckled.

"Are you for real?" Cecilia was kinda pissed.

Dashiell laughed and said, "It's late, you should head back."

"Okay." Cecilia stood up and said seriously, "Dashiell, whether it's about Seraphina or what you told me today about you and Alaric, thanks a lot."

Dashiell chuckled lightly, like it was no big deal.

She said, "Honestly, I trust you more than Seraphina."

"Do you have a thing for me? Don't get me in trouble," Dashiell cut her off, looking scared. "Alaric would kill me."

"Is he that intense?" Cecilia asked.

"You must've seen some of his hidden sides," Dashiell reminded.

Cecilia pursed her lips.

Yeah, she had.

"But don't worry, he's genuine with you," Dashiell added.

Was that supposed to be comforting?

"Okay, it's getting late. Better head back soon. Alaric will worry if you're out too long," Dashiell urged.

"He's in Harborvale, who knows when he'll be back," Cecilia grumbled.

"His heart's always with you," Dashiell said.

"If you used these sweet lines on Seraphina, you wouldn't be..." Cecilia stopped herself.

Dashiell smiled indifferently.

"I'm out, take care," Cecilia said goodbye.

"Okay."

Then Cecilia left Dashiell's place.

As she left, the smile on Dashiell's face slowly faded.

He thought that one day, instead of hiding to vent his feelings, he'd really let go of Seraphina completely.

He glanced at the wound on his hand and chose to ignore it.

The next day, after a check-up at the hospital, Seraphina was told she could go home.

When she was discharged, she first went to see Sebastian.

Sebastian was lying in bed, and when he saw Seraphina walk in, he tried to get up in a hurry.

But a nurse pushed him back down. "Are you nuts? That car accident was serious, and you got up in the middle of the night. Your stitches split open again, and we just re-stitched them. What's wrong with you!"

The nurse's stern tone made Sebastian feel a bit embarrassed.

Seraphina quickly figured out that Sebastian had gotten out of bed last night to check on her, causing his stitches to split open again.

She felt a pang of guilt, saying, "Sebastian, I'm sorry."

"What are you talking about? It's nothing, just some minor injuries. I'll be fine in a few days," Sebastian reassured her. "Honestly, I feel more guilty. If it weren't for me..."

"It's not your fault. Don't beat yourself up," Seraphina said.

"Alright, let's drop it." Sebastian smiled. "Are you getting discharged?"

"The doc said I'm good to go, just need to rest at home," Seraphina replied.

"Then you should head home. No matter how good the hospital is, it's not as comfy as home," Sebastian said.

"When are you getting out?" Seraphina asked.

"The doc said I need to stay for a week and then see how I'm doing."

"Is it that bad?"

"It's not serious, the hospital's just being cautious," Sebastian quickly explained.

Seraphina nodded quietly.

"Go home early. I heard you need to rest after a miscarriage. Don't stand too long," Sebastian urged.

"Take care of yourself," Seraphina advised.

"Don't worry," Sebastian smiled.

Seeing that Sebastian was in good spirits, Seraphina left feeling a bit more at ease.

She always felt that Sebastian was alone.

So she was always afraid he would be lonely and uncared for.

But she didn't know that the woman who brushed past her entered the ward after she left.

Atticus came to pick up Seraphina as soon as he got the call from the hospital. And at this moment, he was waiting for Seraphina to come out of Sebastian's ward to take her home.

Sitting in the car, Atticus couldn't help but say, "Seraphina, after your miscarriage, you gotta take good care of yourself. Don't be careless and end up with complications."

"That's enough," Seraphina said, sounding impatient.

"Alright, I won't talk about it." Atticus, who usually gave in to Seraphina, changed the topic. "When you get home, take good care of yourself with Dashiell. After you go back, just live well with Dashiell. You're both still young, there will be kids sooner or later..."

"Dad, can you please shut up?" Seraphina was getting annoyed. "Don't meddle in my business."

"What's wrong with you! Are you still thinking about Sebastian?" Atticus shouted.

"Just don't interfere with me," Seraphina said.

"Why are you so stubborn? What's wrong with Dashiell? I've watched him grow up all these years. There's probably no guy in this world who treats you better than he does. If you break up with him, you'll regret it," Atticus said.

"If you keep talking nonsense, I'll jump out of the car," Seraphina threatened.

Atticus had no choice but to sigh heavily and stop talking.

The car arrived at Dashiell's apartment garage soon.

Seraphina got out of the car.

Atticus swallowed the words he was about to say.

He was afraid that if Seraphina got angry, she wouldn't go back.

To avoid Atticus's nagging, Seraphina got out of the car and ran straight into the elevator.

The moment she walked into the elevator, Seraphina's heart inexplicably sped up for a second.

It had only been one night, but she felt that everything between her and Dashiell seemed to have changed.
