Chapter 778 Lyra's Arrival
Dashiell saw Cecilia and Theodore off.
Downstairs at the entrance of the Lockhart Group.
Dashiell personally opened the car door for them, very respectfully.
Theodore still had some prejudice against Dashiell. Reluctantly handing over the Lockhart Group to him, no one would feel good about it.
But at the moment of getting into the car.
Theodore heavily patted Dashiell on the shoulder and solemnly said, "It's up to you now."
I entrust the Lockhart family's business to you.
Dashiell nodded heavily.
He felt a bit oppressed inside but could only remain silent.
Cecilia heard it, and her eyes reddened again.
How helpless must one be to say such words to an opponent.
Theodore didn't say anything more.
He bent down and got into the car.
Cecilia sat next to Theodore.
She looked back at Dashiell.
Dashiell smiled and waved them off.
The car started.
The Lockhart Group behind them grew farther and farther away.
Cecilia saw the tears in Theodore's eyes.
From knowing the Lockhart Group was being acquired to the actual acquisition, Theodore had been holding back. It wasn't until they were really leaving that he couldn't hold back anymore.
Cecilia turned her gaze away.
Theodore probably didn't want her to see his vulnerable side.
Every father is a hero and a giant in his daughter's eyes.
No matter how old, they always stand tall.
After the car left.
A woman walked out from behind Dashiell.
Dashiell's eyes flickered.
Early this morning, Lyra had followed Dashiell to the Lockhart Group.
Cecilia saw Lyra but pretended not to.
Lyra didn't greet Cecilia either, both acting like they didn't know each other.
"I didn't expect Cecilia to go this far. I was almost moved in the conference room just now," Lyra said sarcastically.
Yesterday, she had come to Serenovia City with Alaric.
From start to finish, Alaric hadn't given her a good face, but he hadn't refused her either.
He just didn't let her go to the Whitaker Villa.
So she had to stay in a hotel.
Early this morning, she came to the Lockhart Group, wanting to see how miserable Cecilia would be leaving the Lockhart Group.
But the reality was quite the opposite.
The Lockhart family, in the end, secured such great benefits for all the employees of the Lockhart Group. In the future, they might become a legend in the business world, their reputation greatly enhanced.
Lyra sneered.
This was not the outcome she wanted to see.
Dashiell ignored Lyra.
He turned and walked into the Lockhart Group.
Lyra looked at Dashiell's back, her face turning ugly.
A mere Dashiell, a man she had never cared about, actually ignored her?
One day, she would make everyone know just how unattainable she was!
She raised her hand.
A private car parked not far away drove over and stopped at her feet.
Lyra got into the car and said to the driver, "Go to the Whitaker Villa."
Just because Alaric didn't let her go, did that mean she really couldn't go?
She had never failed at anything she wanted to do!
Cecilia first took Theodore home.
She didn't go home with Theodore, saying she had some things to do.
Theodore didn't force her. Perhaps he also needed some time to digest the pain of losing the Lockhart Group and didn't want Cecilia to see his weakness.
When Cecilia returned to the Whitaker Villa.
Alaric was on the sofa in the living room.
She wished he had already left.
And then found herself a bit ridiculous.
Clearly, when she left, she had said they would have lunch together.
Anyway, his flight was at 8 PM.
8 PM, just over 8 hours, she could endure it.
She walked past him and went straight upstairs.
Alaric swallowed the words he was about to say.
He silently watched Cecilia's back.
The phone suddenly rang.
He glanced at the caller and hung up.
The phone rang again and again.
Alaric pursed his lips and finally answered.
"Alaric." Juniper's voice came from the other end.
"What is it?"
"Lyra said she's at the gate of the Whitaker Villa, has something to discuss with you, but the guards won't let her in, and she can't reach you by phone," Juniper said anxiously.
"Whatever it is, we can talk about it when I get back."
"Lyra is alone in Serenovia City now. Can you take care of her for me?" Juniper asked.
Alaric pursed his lips.
"She has had too many bad experiences in Serenovia City. I can't help but worry about her being alone," Juniper continued.
She knew Alaric wouldn't easily compromise.
"If that's the case, I won't let Lyra come back next time," Juniper quickly added.
"Let her in," Alaric agreed.
Juniper smiled triumphantly.
Alaric knew she did it on purpose, but he wouldn't refuse.
Refusing would mean being unfaithful to her.
They had an agreement back then, and Alaric wouldn't break their promise.
She said, "Alaric, thank you."
Alaric hung up the phone directly.
After a while.
Lyra appeared in the hall of the Whitaker Villa.
She was no longer furious from being stopped earlier, now all smiles, and very enthusiastic towards Alaric.
She said, "Alaric, I didn't want to disturb you, but I really have something to discuss with you."
"What is it?" Alaric said coldly.
His rejection of her was obvious.
Lyra felt a bit annoyed but didn't show it in front of Alaric.
She walked to Alaric's side and sat next to him.
Alaric frowned slightly.
Lyra was very close but didn't actually touch him.
Lyra knew her limits.
She always knew that playing hard to get was the biggest lure for men.
She said, "I just went to the Lockhart Group with Dashiell."
Alaric frowned slightly.
"I know you've been having Dashiell acquire the Lockhart Group, Everhart Bank, and the Whitaker Group recently. I looked into it deeply and found that having Dashiell manage three companies alone is really too much for him, so I want to help."
"No need, Dashiell can handle it," Alaric rejected outright.
"I've heard Dashiell is very capable. I just want to be an assistant," Lyra said in a coquettish tone.
"I don't want to say it a second time!" Alaric's voice turned cold.
His rejection of Lyra was evident.
Lyra's face changed slightly.
Alaric was really different from other men.
He was simply impervious.
She adjusted her emotions and was about to say something more.
Cecilia came down from upstairs.
As she came down, she saw Lyra.
Seeing her, she had no emotional reaction.
Just like at the Lockhart Group, she treated her like a stranger.
Lyra's face changed when she saw Cecilia.
Cecilia actually ignored her?
Did she think she posed no threat?
