Chapter 482 Juliana's Intentions
Alaric had Cecilia pinned to the chair, and their kiss was wild and intense. Cecilia clung to his arm like her life depended on it.
Every nerve in their bodies was zeroed in on their tangled lips and tongues.
All the noise and bustle of the world faded away, leaving only their breaths, their kisses, and the beating of their hearts.
Cecilia felt like she was floating on a cloud, totally forgetting where she was and what she was doing.
Then, a panicked female voice broke the spell, "Sorry, I didn't know you are... Sorry!"
Cecilia snapped back to reality and shoved Alaric away.
Alaric looked far from satisfied.
Even though they got interrupted, he wasn't ready to let her go.
He didn't want to let go of those soft lips.
So, as Cecilia pushed him away, he gave her lips a final, teasing lick. It was hot as hell.
Cecilia's face turned bright red.
She tried to pull herself together and signaled Alaric to get off her desk.
Alaric, burning with desire, didn't want to make things hard for her.
He got off the desk and sauntered over to the nearby sofa.
As he walked over, he noticed Augustus sitting there, face as red as a tomato.
Augustus had seen them kissing and was totally flustered.
He didn't dare leave because it might make noise, but staying was super awkward.
In the end, he turned away, blushing, and didn't disturb their moment.
Now that Alaric had noticed him, Augustus felt super uncomfortable and quickly blurted out, "I didn't see anything."
"So why's your face that red?" Alaric raised an eyebrow.
Who should be embarrassed here?
Augustus wanted to disappear.
Cecilia didn't catch the convo between Alaric and Augustus.
Her mind was still a mess from Alaric's kiss.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm down.
Then she looked up at Juliana, who was standing at the door.
Juliana looked super shy and a bit guilty, standing there awkwardly like she was in a tough spot.
Rose was next to Juliana.
Seeing Cecilia look over, Rose quickly said, "We just knocked on the door."
Meaning they didn't mean to interrupt.
Cecilia didn't respond and changed the subject, "What's up?"
"We heard you were here, so we wanted to report on a project from the sales department that you assigned during the last meeting," Juliana quickly said.
"Hand it over." Cecilia tried to stay cool.
"Yes." Juliana quickly handed over the documents.
As Rose turned to leave, Cecilia said, "Make me a cup of coffee."
"Ms. Lockhart, didn't you stop drinking coffee?" Rose was surprised.
"It's for Alaric," Cecilia said, eyes glued to Juliana's documents, not even glancing at Alaric.
She was scared of getting distracted.
Not just looking at him, even thinking about him being there made her heart race.
"No need," Alaric said. "I'll drink whatever Cecilia usually drinks. After all, preparing for pregnancy is a team effort."
When Cecilia heard this, her face turned visibly red.
She was blushing even while looking at the documents.
Rose noticed it clearly.
She had initially thought Cecilia and Alaric's marriage was a sham, that they had no feelings for each other.
But now, everything was flipped upside down!
Juliana'd heard Alaric came to see Cecilia at the office, so she brought the sales department's work over, hoping to catch his eye. She never expected to walk in on them making out like that.
Trying to convince herself their marriage was fake was just wishful thinking.
Juliana bit her lip in frustration.
Winning over Alaric was way tougher than she thought.
She barely managed to keep her cool.
Rose asked Alaric, "Ms. Lockhart usually drinks milk. Want some milk too, Mr. Whitaker?"
"Yeah," Alaric nodded.
Rose quickly said, "Okay."
She dashed out and came back with a cup of hot milk, placing it in front of Alaric with a respectful nod.
"Thanks," Alaric said politely.
"Wishing you a happy and healthy baby," Rose said with a smile.
Alaric grinned, clearly pleased by Rose's words.
Rose, who had never been swayed by a man before, was momentarily stunned by Alaric's smile.
If there was a peak of male attractiveness, Mr. Whitaker was it!
Cecilia cleared her throat.
Rose snapped back to reality and hurriedly left the office.
If she stayed any longer, she felt she might lose her job.
She didn't have any romantic feelings for Mr. Whitaker, just an appreciation for beauty.
When Cecilia coughed, Alaric's smile grew even more smug.
Cecilia pulled her focus back to her work. Looking at the sales department's project report, she said, "I'm not happy with this report. There's no clear conclusion on market sales, the market consumption structure, or the market research. I need not just your process but also the results. This report lacks target values. No matter how good the plan is, without a target, it's useless."
Juliana felt embarrassed by Cecilia's critique.
Cecilia's reasoning was so solid that Juliana couldn't even convince herself that Cecilia was targeting her on purpose.
Juliana bit her lip and said, somewhat aggrieved, "Okay, I'll make the changes right away."
"Juliana, you've been with the company for a while now. If you don't make significant progress, it will be hard for me to promote you or even keep you in such an important position. Think about it carefully," Cecilia reminded.
"Yes." Juliana quickly nodded.
"If there's nothing else, you can leave," Cecilia said.
"Yes." Juliana left.
As she walked out, her high heel caught on a chair, and she fell hard to the ground.
Cecilia's eyes tightened.
Alaric and Augustus naturally looked over too, but no one moved to help her.
Juliana gritted her teeth and forced herself to stand up.
As she stood, her leg gave way, and she looked like she was about to fall again.
"Augustus," Cecilia called out.
"Yes."
"Take Juliana to the hospital," Cecilia ordered.
"No need, I'm fine," Juliana quickly said.
She didn't want Augustus to take her.
She was just trying to get Alaric's attention.
At least now, Alaric was looking at her.
She had always known how to please men and make them notice her.
She had been observing and planning for a long time.
She didn't want to end up like Isadora, who tried to take advantage but lost big in the end!
